Definitely recommend a small SUV or bigger, but people in our group had a sedan and it was fine. We did have one person get a flat tire and the staff at the ranch put on the spare and got the car in working shape again, which was great. Every morning/afternoon, the kids could go for a ride on the horses in the corral. I didn't go riding, but will definitely go on my next trip. Went for hikes led by Kara, and they were really great. The hiking trails range from very easy (go 2 miles up fishhook to the beaver dams in meadow on the edge of the wilderness area) to..." strenuous (take the trail from the trailhead at the other end of the lake and go up to the pass-- this requires a boat ride from the lodge to the trail head) The lodgings are not "luxury" as that term has come to be used.... but they are very clean and comfortable. It's not quite "America as it used to be" -- but it's close. You will be happy sitting on the porch with an adult beverage relaxing and enjoying the view or getting out and hiking, boating, or biking. The dining room has a new chef and the food has improved dramatically. It's gone from good to very good. The beach area is very kid friendly. Note: No dogs.
