I didn't try the breakfast, but did go across the street to a diner and had a great omelet; Burger King is also nearby, so you've got a couple of decent breakfast options within walking distance. One weird thing is the configuration of the parking lot. . . it's got angled parking, leading you to believe that you'd pull out and continue in the same direction to exit around back, but it actually dead-ends at the other end, and you have to make a tight u-turn at the end of the lot.   "Out of the Blizzard"
  "We arrived about 1pm during a blizzard. We needed to get off the highway, visibility was almost zero. We asked about a restaurant, there was only one in town, and it closed at 1pm. He called the restaurant and was told they were closed. He explained our situation and the restaurant said to come ..."over, we could order "take out". When we arrived they said "have a seat". Eventually more people came in. After we arrived back at the hotel, the manager called us about an hour later and invited us for coffee and an hour or conversation. We found our room was not heating properly, he checked and thanked us, as one of his two water heaters had the pilot out, which he lit and we started getting normal hear. " More >

It was decided, that with such poor reviews, that no one could possibly stay in business. So, we decided to see for ourselves. I realize that in today’s s..."ociety, our “needs “are far greater than those of years gone by. We were very pleasantly surprised. Our pet was welcome and it was the perfect place to suite our “needs”. The owner has been upgrading since the purchase of the motel, and our room was modest, clean and cozy. What more does anyone need for a place to sleep ? The owner is more than pleasant and the rates are also. Both my wife and dog would want me to recommend the Sunset Motel for a stay while in Staples, or just a place to rest until the next day back on the road. We will most certainly be staying at the Sunset again " More >
