  "We have been to Old Forge Campground every weekend last summer and cant wait to return again this year.. One of the main reasons we go is to see the bears and other wildlife that is present there.. We normally tent but will also get cabins or cottages.( mostly tent in summer)... we have NEVER had is..."sues with any bears and we have seen many.. The bears will not bother you if you leave them alone and black bears are not aggressive to begin with unless cornered or threatened( most people are unaware or not very educated on black bears)... they will usually mosy on their way after a while or if you make noise , you just need to follow the rules.. Remember we are in THIER BACKYARDS... We love getting photos of them and all the wildlife.. the camp ground is clean and people are very friendly there!! Cant wait to return " More >

  "We've been coming here for over 10 years. Campsites are a good size and flat. Also the cottages and cabins are clean and some have nice views of the lake. Nice little beach for swimming and fishing. Absolutely the CLEANEST bathrooms at any campground we've been to. Cleaned often and showers are ver..."y clean too. Good size store, laundry room, cafe, arcade, & playground. They have a free shuttle running all day to and from Enchanted Forest Water Safari which is convenient. Staff are very helpful and nice. they let us switch sites on a not so busy weekday. everything is perfect there, we spend about 30 days there every summer, i never want to leave!   "My wife and I came here to the North Woods Inn for a two day getaway in the Adirondacks and we had a great time. We were greeted by friendly and courteous staff that went out of their way at every step to make our vacation enjoyable, even giving us a free coffee mug at the end of our stay. They seem..." to have hired a new staff, so I would ignore the previous comments about the staff - everyone here was terrific. Jeff, the bartender, gave my wife a full carafe of coffee to take back to our room two nights in a row. A small thing, but not be ignored. The food in the tap room was casual but excellent. I can't recommend the burgers enough. The room decor was rustic, and not perfect... for example, the wallpaper was coming off the walls in a couple of spots in the bathroom, but that's not a big deal. The room was clean and cozy and we have no complaints. We had a jacuzzi suite, and the jacuzzi was great after a long day of hiking. There was even a complimentary bottle of red wine in the ro...
