We had two full size canopy beds that felt like we were sleeping on clouds. It was quiet and peaceful around the inn. Breakfast was included in our room rate ..."and the breakfast was terrific. There was a wide selection of entrees and the two that we tried were great! The service was top notch and we were treated like VIPs! It was a great experience and we will definitely stay there again and so should you. We took advantage of a special "spring" deal and it was such a bargain we felt as if we were getting away with murder. All in all it was a terrific stay and we checked out very relaxed and well fed. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. Both heat and air conditioning (we needed both in three days!) worked perfectly, quit a feat for these historic buildings. The breakfast is sumptuous starting with scones, and you choose breakfast from a menu (not the inn keepers choice). We have our routine when visiting the town. We walk through the Village, by the elementary school, towards the sheep barn (we check out the sheep) and on to the river. There used to be a foot bridge across the river which was destroyed after flooding in 2011. But we always get back to the porch for that reading and lounging. Tea and cookies are served at 3:00 and the porch is the perfect place to relax and enjoy it. The only downside is that the quality of the dinners has diminished in the last 3 years. " More >
