  "I wanted to get up into the mountains on my motorcycle for a few days and I haven't been to the Buchanan area, so I looked for a hotel that wouldn't break me, but that would have some charm. The Wattstull Inn was PERFECT for me. I was please with the HUGE room. A king sized bed, a nice couch, a ..."small refrigerator, directTV - all nice amenities, but it's the million dollar view from the front porch that will really sell this place! The family that runs the Wattstull were very nice. They live on the property and have a few sweet border collies. I missed my Aussies, so I spent some time with them and took off riding some of the fantastic Virginia backroads. The property is older, but well maintained. The bathrooms are functional, but dated. Everything worked and the water was HOT quick, which is always a good thing. The restaraunt down the hill was open for supper and breakfast while I was there.   "This is one of those older style motels from the 50's that I usually am leery of. But I checked the reviews before calling. Stayed there one night last week and was very happy with it. It sits up real high on a hillside with front door views of the Blue Ridge mountains that are gorgeous. Each room f..."aces the front with old fashioned chairs outside. Room was large with open beamed ceiling. Bathroom was tiny but spotless, the old ceramic tile style. A lot of day hikers on Appalachian trail were staying there, one older couple for the whole week. No breakfast but there is a coffee maker and mini fridge. Restaurant 1/2 way down the hill, not too impressed with dinner but it was OK. Not much else at this exit on 81 - a gas station. The motel has a nice pool (not open yet for the season). I would stay here again in the summer and use the pool. The view alone is worth the price. Reasonable rates under $75/night this time of year.
