A complimentary wine tasting next door at the Cave de Barrouze (http://www.salers-tourisme.fr/fr/il4-commerce_i349-la-cave-de-barrouze.aspx) was a welcome start to our visit. Our hosts recommended restaurants a short walk away, cheeses (from the Cheese Coop at St. Bonnet de Salers) to take home, and a lovely hike nearby up the Puy Violent.   "Nearly did not make the hotel because of the snow !!! Our room was very clean with a new smell to it. Slept on a bamboo mattress for the first time just like our V-sprung mattress, very nice.
