  "I stayed at the Club Alvorferias for 10 nights on a self catering basis. First impressions of the hotel after a very early start were disappointing. Due to our early arrival we had to wait for our room to be cleaned and made ready for us. This was fine and not a problem. Rooms - we had a one bedroom apartment. This was spacious and very well equipped with a living/dining area, kitchen, bathroom and twin bedroom. The apartment also had 2 balconies, one at the front which was accessed from the kitchen and one at the back accessed from the main living area - the front one overlooked a communal stairwell and did not feature furniture on so was not one we used to sit on, the one at the back was a suntrap and although it overlooked a car park it provided a nice place to sit of an afternoon.   "The week we visited Alvor saw the most attrocious weather. So we had to spend a lot of time in our room. We were in 902 on the ninth floor, which consists of a bed sitter with built in kitchen. The kitchen equipment was mostly still in the wrappers and everything was supplied, even a dishwasher. The..." bathroom has a bidet, basin and shower over the bath, no problems with water supply. The flat screen telly offeredba verybwide range of channels from various countries. Down bit is the noise. At that height it was directly into the wind, and it howled when you opened the doors or wondow. We had breakfast there, which was a very good hot and cold buffet style. Everything about this place is immaculate. It is a shame that the space around the pool is somewhat limited. However, it is a couple of minutes walk from the beach and the shops, so hopefully in better weather visitors should love it. " More >

  "We were at the hotel at the same time as the previous reviewer and disagree completely with their opinion regarding the pools. There was a problem with the jacuzzi which the maintenance man was dealing with, but we swam in both the indoor and the larger outdoor pools, as did a number of other guest..."s. The water outdoors was a bit chilly but the pool was clean and the surrounding area well tended. The indoor pool was a much more comfortable temperature. I agree that some areas of the hotel are shabby, but Portugal has suffered far more than some countries from recession and many complexes were completely closed, including the one immediately in front of this hotel. When our minibus pulled up outside we thought the only thing missing was tumbleweed, as everything leading up to the hotel looked so abandoned.
