  "We travelled around the south island and stayed at this motel overnight on the way to Christchurch before flying home, it was very well equipped and lovely and tidy, the stairs were really steep and hard to negioate when half asleep and needing to use the loo. We found sleeping in one big communal ..."bedroom for 2 adults and 2 kids upstairs a little hard to deal with as both my boys and I are very light sleepers, however my parents who were travelling with us enjoyed being downstairs and in close proximate to the toilet. Not very well equip if you wanted to cook anything as only have two elements and a small microwave. However there is a lovely little pub up the road who offered lovely roast meals for $20 with a free dessert, the meals were HUGE. would definitely stay again if we are in area. " More >

As we had not been back to New Zealand for a holiday in at least 4 years it was with some high expectations we arrived at the Port to catch up with family who had traveled from both ends of NZ to spend the first week with us. There was room for us all and we enjoyed sharing beautifully cooked meals with a key ingredient being the freshest of fresh garden vegetables from the extensive garden at the back of the house, expertly tendered by our hosts John & DT, coupled with locally fresh caught salmon and grown lamb, to mention only a few memorable meals shared. With an open fire in the hearth in the evening, it was the most perfect atmosphere to share news & stories with family over a glass of good South Island wine. We all felt as if we were home.   "What a fantastic place to celebrate a 40th Birthday. We arrived and were met by Gillian and shown around the cottage. Instantly we were impressed with the quality and the details. We loved how everything was there for us to use, lovely towels, slippers, robes but most of all the AMAZING food left ..."in the fridge for our dinner and breakfast. The bed was HUGE ( super king!) and was so comfortable. The cottage got all day sun, so was lovely and warm and in the evening the gas fire and heatpump, kept us toasty and warm, while we sipped our red wine. Gillian had thought of every thing - lovely handcrafted soaps in the bathroom, extra food in the freezer and an amazing selection of magazines, books and dvds....and most importantly SKY Tv ( so hubby could watch the rugby!). We loved reading about Dry Paddocks history and wandering around the property. So peaceful. We cant wait to return! " More >
