The owners had the château and other surrounding buildings full of family for a family christening (this being out of peak holiday season), and we enjoyed a really pleasant, well-cooked, tasty dinner with some of them, and no stinting on the wine served. We speak French but the owners do speak English and I think this would be a really pleasant experience for anyone. After getting in a little late (agree with the traveler who had trouble with GPS finding the location) we were warmly greeted by Hugo. He and Magda are wonderful, accommodating owners. We loved the story of the history of the house an..."d the area and how the two of them located to Thiers. Our room was enormous, very quiet and comfortable. We ate that evening at Le Brooklyn, a pizza place down the street. The owner's wife (he did not speak much English and we very little French) sat down with us and we had a lively discussion with our excellent pizza & wine. The breakfast the next morning at the B&B was lovely in the beautiful dining room filled with antiques. Thiers is a lovely town but appears to be suffering from the economic downturn. If you are ever in this area, be sure and make an overnight stop at the Maison Conchette...you will not regret the stay. " More >
