We had opted for a family chalet and were satisfied with its cleanliness and lay out. It was slightly away from the reception area and we felt like we were in the middle of the jungle, what with the sightings of monitor lizard, wild boars and monkeys. The breakfast provided by the hotel was also sumptuous. They have their own private jetty from where one can cross any time to the other side of the river by paying RM 1 and sample a fare at one of the floating restaurants.   "Mutiara Taman Negara Resort is the only resort on the National Park Side, where else the rest of the resort and chalets is on the opposite side of the Park Headquarters, which makes this place exclusive and quiet and easy to explore the jungle from here. There is a pair of Tapirs that roam freely..." in these area, as well as monkeys, wild boars, porcupine and hornbills that has seem to be residents in the area… The resort is built with nice wooden chalets with bamboo interior; the setup is very nicely blended in the forest which makes it extraordinary. But the service in the restaurant could do with some improvement especially its customer service. (BTW: this is the very few places that you could get beers! RM10.00 per can during happy hours) You could get the water taxi/ferry service for RM 1.00 per person to cross the river to the other side, where there are many choices for food on the floating restaurant by Kuala Tahan village.
