Lovely meal in the country. Very nice experience. Went on the half price spirit fm voucher. Very glad we did. Peroni on draught and friendly service. Food was perfect.

We had not been to the Trooper for a while so welcomed the revised menu. I love the option of eating from small plates because all too often a main course is just too much and the starter menu is more interesting than the mains. I had the garlic prawns, cold meats and garlic bread - all designed to keep...

Friends organised our dinner for 6, we had not been there before. We shall certainly go again. Great atmosphere, good service and outstanding food quality. Thank you.
Great cosy atmosphere with warm log fire. Spent an evening with friends enjoying the delicious food. The attention to detail was super, with my tiny bottle of Prosecco in a mini ice bucket, a small glass of jelly babies with the bill etc. a fine way to spend a Saturday evening, looking forward to next time!
My wife and I were joined by two friends for lunch at The Trooper. We thought that the food was, as usual, fabulous. Was in the area as and thought to try the trooper for a Saturday night meal. Don't be put off by the exterior its actually very cosy inside. Food great - lovely tapenade and warm ciabatta brought to the table. All home made food really well seasoned with interesting flavours. Will definitely go again.
We had a very pleasant meal and the food is definitely much better than an average pub. The problem is that there are a few other pubs near by that have similarly good food but are priced more realistically. In times like this people are looking for value for money and they will vote with their feet if they don't...

Disappointing Sunday lunch. The RARE roast beef (specifically stated on the menu to be rare) had no hint of pink at all. When my wife commented that it was supposed to be rare she was told "that is rare". Will not return - avoid if you want quality food.
Went there yesterday with a large group of friends. The service was appallingly slow and the food when it came was at best "average". Had been a couple of years earlier at New Year and recall much better service and food. Menu - poor. It was and expensive meal for what it was - we were very disappointed.
It is quite a few months since I have been to the Trooper. It is still as good as ever. The atmosphere is friendly and comfy. The food is much much better that average pub grub and the owner always charming. What more do you want?
