Learning with Sonja is a whole adventure on its own and you have to go there if you want to know what I mean! We followed several cooking classes in Thailand but never with such an experience. You might read that the course is “expensive”; however even if you can find other price ranges, by Sonja is the only place... More

My wife and I had a fantastic day with Sonja this week as we cooked a 5 course lunch and learned more about Thai food in a few hours than I had in a few years. If you want to watch her cook, you can - but you can also tell her to sit down and teach you while you... More

We had a late breaky at sonjas. She didn't have the English breakfast I wanted but the German one was filling. The baking was delisious as well. We stayed and had a chat with Sonja and one of her local expat friends. Good folks, great food and a thought provoking conversation afterwards.

Sonja is a chef w/ a huge personality. Go there w/ a sense of humour and have a good attitude and you'll have a great time. We learned to make classic Thai dishes, and she took extra time to explain the differences btwn some of the Thai dishes for us. We ate 5 courses of delicious home made Thai food,... More

A friend and I chose Sonja's cooking class as I have gluten allergy and my friend is a fussy eater and Sonja's seemed to provide alot of choice and an extra dish for a similar price. Sonja was kind enough to advise approximate cost for travel from our location via various methods (ie song tae, taxi & moto) so we... More

If you have 3 hours and 5000 Baht to spare a visit to Sonja's is certainly an interesting experience! There was no Thai chef, just Sonja and if you don't mind a bit of profanity and racism with your food the experience certainly had a lot of conversation value after the event!

Although much more expensive than other places in the area, we really enjoyed our visit to Sonja's Bakery. The food was fresh and tasty, and the portions were huge, so you know what you're paying for. Sonja is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We're also very grateful as she gave us a lot of advice on traveling... More

Sonja agreed to host a group of 9 (she usually only does 2 person) for an afternoon of Ta=hai cooking and gave us the best deal on Samui. Her kitchen was clean and her greeting was warm and very friendly. Our Thai chef spoke reasonable English and gave us excellent instructions. We made 3 dishes and the ingrediants were fresh... More

I am absolutely flabbergasted at all the positive reactions to Sonja's Bakery. In a stay of ten days on Koh Samui this was the lowest my wife and I sank with regard to restaurants and food in general. Having read about this "absolute must for lovers of crisp fresh rolls and delicious, homemade cakes" we walked there one sunny afternoon... More

Based on the recommandations that we had read in some tourist guides, we tried breakfast at Sonja's. What a desillusion ! The breakfast was twice more expensive than the average price of breakfasts in Mae Nam. For that price, we did not even get decent fresh juice fruit. The 280BHT continental breakfast included reasonable quantity, but the 180 BHT french... More
