What have they done to one of my favorite Far North stops. The fish was old,the oysters and scallops were tiny and old and the grease went through 3 layers of paper,YUCK!threw it in the bin to save myself a stomach ache.

We decided on our NZ trip to try this restaurant on our motor home trip. A rip off nz$8.50 for a small piece of blue nose cod, (poor man's fish, not snapper) scoop of very average chips nz $5.00, small condiments nz$2. each vinegar extra PLUS a 15% surcharge for seating I suppose.
We had lots of fish and chips...

The fish and chips themselves were nice enough - though by NZ standards the portions are very small - and the waterside location is good but overall it feels like a tourist trap for the regular busloads who descend. You'll get far better meals of F&C in many more places.
This was on our bucket list ! What a disappointment. Coming from Mt Maunganui and used to the fabulous fish and chips at Bobby's , we had great expectations of what good fish and chips should be like- : First shock: $6.50 for one piece of fish . 25 chips in a scoop=3.50. 16.80 for six battered oysters. . 2nd...

I do love a good fish n chip meal and was looking forward to trying this place despite the reviews. Was told Blue Nose was the fish to eat up in the Northland area. The cape Reinga tour we were on stop in at this place on the return trip from the cape so that worked in well. Unfortunately our...

Had a lovely lunch here, their fish and chips are delicious. The setting was delightful and it was a beautiful sunny day. The service was fast and efficient.
This has always been a place I would recommend people visit because of it's ongoing reputation for fresh seafood - sourced locally.
Unfortunately under it's new Management, greed seems to have replaced great value and taken the edge off this once great eatery and atmosphere of being over the water when you have your fish and chips. the fish is...

Well we visited this restaurant expecting the food and service to be as good as everywhere else we had visited in NZ, we left very disappointed, and my wallet much lighter.
The service was adequate without being anything special, the food was overpriced, and very, very average.
Being from the North of England we foolishly expected chips made with real...

We enjoyed the fish and other seafood platters here tremendously - very fresh and tasty. The setting is superb, eating and looking over the bay with sailing boats bobbing around in the waves. But we were astounded by the price of the wine we ordered to go with our food. We got a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which cost $44....

Living on their reputation. Hapuku was the only fish on offer - a small portion with too much greasy batter. The salt and pepper squid was better, but still only average. Acceptable chips. We last visited about 10 years ago and there is no doubt their quality has gone down. In addition, the drinks are very expensive.
