Description: Sol Food is a small casual place where we (David and Sunshine) serve lunch and dinner on our deck. We live downstairs and have a 3 bedroom vacation rental upstairs, Sunshine Getaway. Westpunt is at the far west end of the island and is quite small. Our home is on the Weg Naar Playa Kalki about a half mile before you get to the Lodge Kura Hulanda. To find us, take the road across from Jaanchie's restaurant and a left between the cemetery and ball field. If you any trouble finding us, ask anyone where we live.We are a part of our community and the island. David has a mountain bike club for the boys in town, the Westpunt Riders Boys Mountain Bike Club and I am involved with the American Women's Club and a few other organizations around Curacao. We do not have the luxury of American wholesalers or grocery stores and I shop every Thursday with fingers crossed that I'll be able to find all that we need for Sol Food. We are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday noon to 9PM, reservations are recommended. There are only 9 tables and it is hard to accommodate any group larger than 8 guests. The Lodge has a banquet room. Besides the Lodge and Jaanchies, you can eat at Misje or Rancho Sobrino here in town. Our menu is simple; pizza, salads and/or tuna, shrimp, tilapia, snapper, steak, chicken, hot dogs or hamburgers from the grill. We hire the boys from the bike club and a couple of local women. We are not a high end restaurant nor do we wish to be one. Many of the boys have worked for us 3 or 4 years and returning guests have been able to see how they have progressed not only in life but with their language and social skills. We find that those who chose to stay in Westpunt are laid back and casual, most of them are snorkelers, divers or mountain bikers. Many have become friends and we all enjoy seeing each other when they return. If you are staying in Westpunt or Lagun, Sol Food is a great place to meet with old or new friends and have something to eat. But really folks, it's just simple American food. If you are staying in Santa Barbara, Jan Theil or Jan Sofat, it is over an hour drive one way. We highly recommend that you do take the drive to see the beaches and National Parks. If you have time, come by for lunch or an early dinner and drive back during the daylight. We are 45 minutes from Lions Dive, Sunscape and the Royal Sea Aquarium and 35 minutes from the Renaissance, Hilton and Marriott. There is such a variety of great places to eat all over Curacao. We hope you enjoy your stay.

We stayed near Willemstad, but made the drive to Westpunt. This restaurant is in a house, but very charming and a unique experience. The owners are American and friendly. They make most of their food there...it wasn't the best meal we had, but it was good and worth the trip!

It was kind of nice to be able to get some pizza for lunch. It was pretty good and made to order. We had the Tuna steak for dinner and that was pretty good. Can't compare it to a place in the states, as it's an American couple leasing out the place and hiring local help to cook and serve.... More

The food in Westpunt has generally good quality, but tonight we were amazed by our first visit to Sol Food. The friendly owners offer a variety of dishes including pizza, barbecue, salads and desserts. We liked the food very much, especially the rib-eye steak, sweet potato with apple (and cinnamon?) side, Red Snapper with Mango Sauce and the brownie. And... More

Sol Food is a charming little restaurant run by a couple from the States. They are very friendly and Sunshine herself spent some time chatting with us about Curacao, which I really enjoyed. The food was healthy and clean and included some of Sunshine's own recipes including a spinach pancake that was excellent. The food was good, but coming from... More

Sunshine (one of the owners) was just wonderful while we first visited Sol Food last weekend. We tried the spicy chicken and her wild rice/raisin and sweet potato salad. The food was wonderful and the view was great. Clean and friendly and great prices for American food in a Caribbean island atmosphere. Sunshine also shared her chicken recipe with us... More

Our favorite place in Westpunt. We went twice for seafood and pizza. Both were great, no complaints. Sunshine and her husband are just wonderful. They also advised us on what's interesting in the area, provided us with a map and a several page long info sheet about the island, its customs and its people. Such a nice touch.

Run by an American ex-pat, Sol Food is only open Friday, Saturdays and Sundays (at least when we were in Curaco in March). Friendly service, outdoor seating, delicious hamburgers and veggie pizzas. Do not skip the homemade brownies - I'm still dreaming of that dessert!

We booked our reservation by email to Sunshine (the owner) before we left Canada. We booked for my husband's 50th birthday on March 31, 2013 at 7 pm. The restaurant itself is so quaint and overlooks the water although we could not see it as it was dark. Three of us had the snapper and I had the tilapia. All... More

Lovely outdoor terrace, good food (fresh lionfish etc.), pleasant service. About 10 minute drive from Lodge Kira Hulanda. Recommended. Only open F-Sun, though.

So good we had to go back a second time. We had the pizza (pepperoni and veggie) and they were amazing especially with the toppings. The snapper w/ mango was excellent too. I wouldn't normally recommend a steak on the island but the ribeye was great too. The lemon bread/cake they bring you is great.
