Great location and the food is excellent. There is no sign on the bldg so make sure you take the address and phone # with you. Cabbies have trouble finding the place. Traditional food and it is a very clean place....

Excellent food. Have been here a few times. However, don't ever make a request directly to Monsieur José Enrique. I happened to come across him at the restaurant, said hi, and told him that the audio was a little loud. He thought about it two seconds and responded that that's the way they like it. Apparently, you are allowed to... More

This place is tough to get to. It's hidden in a very old neighborhood in San Juan. But I'm sure that all taxi cabs and hotel concierge know about this place. If you go too late in the day (after 6), you run the risk of a huge wait. There is no reservations. This is authentic Gourmet Puerto Rican Food.... More

I've been to J.E a couple of times.. Yes the food is good, but the service always lacks, starting with the chef and going onto the waiters and bartenders they all share one common denominator: Indifference! I repeat the food is good.. but for the price and the time you have to wait there are a good number of other... More

You can walk by this restaurant and never know it existed. No signage, not particularly descript from the outside. But what is inside is so very good that it should not be missed. They do not take reservations and I believe they are closed on Sunday and Monday. The cuisine is latin/american and everything was expertly prepared. We had fried... More

Service is quick and accurate - Food is the BEST!! We really enjoyed our meal at Jose Enrique and the atmosphere is terrific. No reservations here, so be prepared to wait a bit, but it's well worth it. I had the oxtails and they were amazing! Don't miss out on an opportunity to enjoy Puerto Rican cuisine at it's finest!!

Visited Jose Enrique with some relatives that live in San Juan & we had one of the most delicious meals that I have ever had! The place is LOCAL, you will have to wait for a table. The food is absolutely unbelievable good & presented well. The service was stellar. Mixed crowd of young, older, business and hip! You will... More

Nice food, in a place not easy to find. The menu is on a white board, which moves from table to table when you are ready to order. But it's in Spanish so you need the waiter to come around and explain to you. Our waiter brought us a shot for everyone at the end, and it was called "choclate... More

After almost 29 years of marriage to a Puerto Rican and at least as many trips to the island, I was pleasantly surprised at the sophisticated combination of flavors and ingredients at this unpretentious, relaxed restaurant. A no reservation policy forced us to wait 25 minutes, but we were happy to people-watch in the nearby plaza that was teeming with... More

We were very surprised by the food we tasted from this very unassuming restaurant. We ordered 2 appies and 3 mains to share: chicharonnes, longaniza, mahi-mahi, sword fish, and another fish dish They were all AMAZING. The coconut mojito was also great. The money spent was all worth it. TIPS: They are closed Sundays and Mondays. We did not have... More
