We stopped at El Camello for lunch one day and ordered ceviche mixto and tacos--fish and octopus. Number one, this is too much food for two people, even if you're hungry and on vacation. Number two, the entire meal was a life-changing experience. We may need to return to Tulum more regularly just for octopus. The small ceviche could feed... More

We asked about a good place that locals frequent in Tulum for lunch and he recommended El Camello. It is your typical local restaurant, it's not the highest quality but the quality is good for authentic local food. It was a hot day so we got the medium ceviche and drinks which was more than enough for both of us.... More

I majored in foods and nutrition so I have eaten a lot of different food. However, I have never tasted anything better in my life than the sops de mariscos served at el camello. The soup is so full of flavor and served hot and includes a very generous amount if prawns, fish, octopus, crab, scallops, etc. I ate until... More

Our taxi driver told us that El Camello Junior had the best seafood in town, and this place did not disappoint! The shrimp ceviche was amazing, and the aguas frescas were solid. The guacamole was average. Don't go there too late, as the most popular dishes tend to sell out. A local cat had discovered this place, and my girlfriend's... More

Everything we ordered was on point and an excellent value: whole fried fish (grouper), mixto seafood ceviche, guacamole, margaritas and Mexican (cane sugar) Coca-Colas in glass bottles. Recommend paying in pesos. We paid in USD and they gave us a low exchange rate of 10 MXD to 1 USD, when everywhere else is 11 or 12.5 to 1 right now.... More

We heard so many good comments about this place. It wasn't as good as they said. My husband ordered a ceviche, it was nice. I had a tikinxic fish, it wasn't cooked fully so I had to asked the waiter to cook it more, and it seemed he wasn't happy about it. Service wasn't very friendly, and it is not... More

This popular roadside place at the south end of Tulum Pueblo offers some authentic seafood dishes at great prices for ample portions. If you like ceviche, order it here but be forewarned that a medium size plate will satisfy two hungry eaters. If you want it as an appetizer, don't go bigger than the small plate. It is fresh and... El Camello stands up to its reputation for sure. Ordered the Tacos de pulpo (octopus tacos) and the ceviche de pescado. Great flavors but couldn't finish between my wife and me. The "medium" order of ceviche would have been more than enough for both of us to split. Looking around, a lot of people ordered the shrimp ceviche. Perhaps we'll... More

With no previous knowledge of the restaurants in Tulum, I spotted El Camello, Jr. after having driven from Playa Del Carmen to Coba (climbing the ruins) and driving back to Tulum. Needless to say, though I will, my family and I were hungry. As I was driving south through town, I saw a mixture of locals and tourists and new... More

We went here the last night of our stay. It was right around the corner from our hotel and this was the best fish we had all week...and we ate a lot of really good fish! This is probably my favorite restaurant in Tulum. They serve the fish they catch that day, so it cannot be fresher. They have delicious... More
