An enjoyable meal at a very reasonable cost. Just under a $100 CAD for four including a couple of beers. A little out of the way for tourists without a car but worth the cost of a taxi fare. Limited parking is available next door to the restaurant. The food is fresh and tasty. The red curry was very good... More

Offering the standard range of Thai favorites, Talay Thai was a fantastic stopping point for my husband and I as we explored Ottawa. My pad thai with tofu was peanuty and sweet, while my husband enjoyed a vegetarian (tofu) dish with a yummy garlic sauce. The service was prompt and courteous, and we were even asked if we'd like separate... More

I would love to find a little hole in the wall place that doesn't break the bank, but also doesn't taste like mediocre takeout. Unfortunately, I am yet to find such a place in Ottawa, so restaurants like Talay are where I have to go to find my Thai fix (and it ain't cheap!) The physical restaurant is clean with... More

Day two in Ottawa found me attempting to avoid a fast food and/or pub dinner. Based on TripAdvisor reviews I thought I would give Talay Thai a try since it was a relatively short walk from my hotel. Overall, the place is quite nicely decorated and the staff was nice. Ordered hot/sour soup to start then yellow curry with a... More

We arrived late at our accommodation when visiting Ottawa this weekend and were directed to this little restaurant by the owner. We were delighted to discover a real gem - fantastic food, friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. We had a great time and would definitely go back. If you like thai food you won't be disappointed by the menu.... More

Every bite eaten was a little taste of Thai heaven. Everything is prepared and presented with care. The ingredients were authentic and fresh and the flavors were explosive yet subtle. We all enjoyed our meals from the drinks all the way to dessert. I highly recommend the little extras on the menu like the Thai iced tea and the coconut... More

I spent 3 years in Thailand and this has been one of the closest to real Thai I've tasted abroad. The staff were all Thais and courteous. The food came fast and was very tasty. Has bits own parking and it's close to the 417 making it vary handy to reach and to park.

Very, very clean place, we went to the Talay Thai after consulting the TA review and came out very impress. Not only is the place very clean, but the food and the service were excellents. Remember this is a typical Thai restaurant, so no knife or chop sticks unless you ask for it. Food was just as spicy as the... More

Forced to get take away, this Thai restaurant food was a pleasure find. I tried Penang curry and it was fresh and tasty. One suggestion for improvement is to offer compost able take away boxes and silverware instead of plastic. But food is good and reasonably affordable.

I discovered this place recently while walking along Bank Street. I came to this conclusion recently after visiting Ottawa twice. There are so many thai restaurants in this city that I think there is a need for an independent evaluation of these places by a consumer reports-like approach to determine if they deliver what they promise. These thai restaurants in... More
