With bright morning sun lightening up the wooden decor, what a great start of the day in Old Montreal. The "egg in the face" was not the egg on toast that I expected, but turned out to be the best savoury sandwich I have ever had! Really. Coffee is great too. All pastry goods and cakes look fantastic. What a great little cafe for breakfast! Exquisite baked goods. The coffee is amazing. Prices are pretty high, but so is the quality. The menu isn't super deep, but since the food is so good you might not care. The caesar salad includes kale, and was very tasty. Also--lots of English spoken here.

As far as food on the go in Old Montreal is concerned, O&G is hard to beat. Its only competitor is probably Titanic, located a block and a half away. But O&G has the edge, as demonstrated by the constant crowds that overflow into the streets on a daily basis. Expect a line, but the sandwiches are worth it.

Great food, great atmosphere, great prices. The sandwiches are soooo good. Loved this place and would recommend to everyone. Just wish it was open Sundays and Mondays so that I could have had it everyday.

I really enjoyed our lunch here. It is such a cool atmosphere and the food is like getting a hug. They carefully prepare the food with tons of tastiness - I had a salad with herbs and it was so delicious -- my husband had a cajun chicken sandwich with guacamole and tomatos were so fresh and tasty. Definitely a... More

Based on the recommendation of the hotel front desk I strolled down to this place for a light lunch. I had the salad du jour which was very nice. This place gets crowed at lunch but is well worth waiting for. Unique way you check out and pay, which adds to the ambiance.

We ate here twice on our trip recently. This spot is where the locals eat lunch in Old Montreal. Both times we waited at least 20 minutes for a table but let me tell you it was WORTH it - obviously as we went back a second time. We had the Caesar salad which was the best I have ever... More

We were wandering around Vieux-Montreal, waiting for the Museum of Archaeology at Pointe-a-Calliere to open, when an April snowstorm (!) began to fall. Fortunately, we'd heard good things about O&G and ducked in for some breakfast and to wait out the snow. We enjoyed the breakfast sandwich (a bit spicy, but I like it that way) and some pastries, along... More

We ate here at the suggestion of Fodor's Travel Guide. It was crowded but we were seated within 15 minutes. The food was delicious, the people friendly and courteous. It is definitely worth the price. If you want to immerse yourself in the culture of Old Montreal, this is the place to do so. We enjoyed the sandwiches and pastries.... More

Good food, weird ordering procedure, cramped space, but definitely represents quick lunch service in a busy bistro! The food was yummy, but the price was exorbitant for what it was... After all, 10$ +tax+tip just for a sandwich! Wouldn't have had a problem paying 15$ if they included a side salad or a small cup of soup.
