Being from England and having had many Fish and Chips over the years, I can honestly say that since we moved to Vancouver Island in 2011 we have had consistently good food at this restaurant. The batter is light and not greasy. The fish is moist and not overcooked. The staff, including owners are very friendly. I would highly recommend... More

a quaint relaxed cafe run by a friendly Cornishman who does not believe in small portions ! Well worth a detour.

We've been visiting Fish Tales since we moved to the area a decade ago and, year upon year, it has been consistently wonderful. Part of their secret is that they have easy access to local fish varieties, the very freshest. Here that runs the gamut of salmon, halibut, ling cod, oysters, scallops, crab and squid. Their calamari is as good... More

We stumbled across this place for lunch on the drive from Victoria to Campbell River, and were glad we did. It is a very small place that appears to be run by an old English couple. My wife had the cod fish and chips and I had the fresh halibut and prawn plate. Fish was definitely fresh and well prepared.... More

Bumped into a local who swore by this fish & chip restaurant. Has a very typical Irish ambiance to it, cozy and feels a bit like a pub would in some respects. Halibut & Chips - Wow, absolutely the best Fish & Chips I can recall eating. I don;t even like fish that much but this was astoundingly good. It... More

We recently ate at the Fish Tales Cafe and ordered the Halibut and Chips. The atmosphere was quaint, the service excellent and the fish and chips were delicious. The chips were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The halibut had a fantastic batter on it. I have eaten at many fish and chip places on Vancouver Island... More

I went after people kept raving about the best fish and chips in town here. They were OK, but nothing special. The menu is traditional British with no flair. Fish and chips at any restaurant would be about the same. Much better to be had down the road at the Shady Rest Pub and they have a view too.

The food was fresh and nicely prepared. The service was great. The grounds and building are nicely decorated with different items. We may go back in the summer when you can eat outside under the lights....

Outstanding fish and chips served in a lovely setting. Friendly, attentive staff. There is an extensive history to this establishment, which makes for interresting readding while waiting to order your meal. Will definitely return.

Food and service are fantastic in this small but quaint little place. The fact that it is busy all the time shows just how good the meals are, and such good value for money.
