On a busy Mothers Day, the service was very slow but we weren't in any hurry as the views were great And we had spent the day hiking. The coleslaw is the best I have ever had, fresh and crunchy with grainy mustard dressing and the creme brûlée was to die for! Entrees were okay, ample food for good value.... More

A very beautiful restaurant right on the beach. Lovely views as you dine. The local food was great, so we ordered Fish and Chips. The ling cod was good and fresh. The "coleslaw" was a delight, not at ALL like a McDonalds portion, but sweet and spicy and a little hot all at once. The fries were local and fresh... More

Have been going to the Shady Rest on and off for years. The location and the view are to die for. No complaints with the service but our meal was mediocre at best. A lot of boasting on the menu about locally sourced and fresh...there may be sand in the oysters they are so fresh etc. The oysters proved to... More

We liked the emphasis on local food in the menu and the waitress and chef were very helpful in catering to one of our party's request for grilled rather than battered fish. There's a different special offer every evening that makes it excellent value. It's not fancy but good food, freshly prepared in a friendly atmosphere is hard to beat.

We had lunch there the other day. Service was ok, but not the usual friendly kind, just here's your meal. Meal was luke warm and not the usual good quality. Very disappointing to say the least. I'll probaby try somewhere else next time.

We have dined at the Shady Waterfront restaurant many times when deciding on a local restaurant for ourselves or with out-of-town guests. The restaurant is perched above the beach with a wide open ocean view. The menu us reasonably priced featuring local ingredients and good variety. During warm weather the patio is open and there is another patio off the... More

The menu was based on local produce and everything was cooked to perfection, the local oysters were delicious and washed down well with the local beer, easy access and a friendy staff, what more could you ask for?

90 years of history makes this a worthy stop. Enjoy locally sourced food and great stories of the area. Friendly attentive serviced and a wonderful view.

My wife Heather and I had the good fortune of dining at "The Shady" last Sunday night and had the pleasure of having Zennea as our waitress, the food and atmosphere was good but what made the evening special was the service that Zennea gave to us,she greeted us with a smile, took time to describe some of the dishes...
