At the Tourist Information center in Chester I asked them to recommend a nearby place for lunch. The young man asked what I wanted. "Warmth!" I replied, for it had been a rainy, blowy, cold day. He suggested Joseph Benjamin's, and I and two friends went there for lunch. The beer was great (try the Eastgate ale!) and the food... More

A quick look on trip advisor before setting off and decided to give this restaurant a go.lovely welcome, deli platter to share as a starter was lovely, especially as everything on the platter was described in such detail. Chicken and pesto ciabatta was nice, the pork and apple sandwich was a little lame considering everything else. Nice experience, will definitely go... More

This is a combined delicatessen/restaurant right next to the Roman city wall. We arrived in Chester late Friday afternoon and asked for a reservation the same evening. The restaurant was fully booked but we were offered a table in the shop area. This turned out to quite all right, even when guests started pouring in. The atmosphere is relaxed and... More

After visiting trip advisor and receiving local recommendations also, my husband and I decided to visit the JB's website only to see no bookings could be taken and you simply had to turn up. (This was confirmed by a local) Later that evening we did only to be asked if we had a reservation!? No we did not was our... More

We ate here after reading reviews on TA, stopping for the full English breakfast and then again later in the day for our evening meal. Both meals were of a very good quality, I can particularly recommend the chicken and pheasant terrine, and the mushroom lasagne. My wife had the cullen skink which looked fabulous. The house red is billed... More

This small but lovely restaurant is a great find in Chester. We found it last year and decided to drive up from the West Mids. A great welcome, fabulous food and right by the cathedral. Splendid job.

We took a chance to eat here early Saturday evening and luckily there was a table. I had a mushroom lasagne which was delicious, best I have eaten in a restaurant. My husband had the vegetarian deli plate which he really enjoyed, the waitress explained all the cheeses on it. This restaurant, although small has a good atmosphere, although it... More

Although had booked a table a few weeks in advance had to wait quite a while for our table but then realised as it is quite a small restaurant they were probably waiting for previous diners to leave. Not a huge menu to choose from but what there was all sounded very tasty. My partner had the terrine for starters... More

Great little place. We visited for lunch with our baby, the staff were welcoming and very friendly. The deli plate is a masterpiece, with a mix of lovely local produce, homemade bites and top notch cured meats. Will definately be back!!

Came here to celebrate a small anniversary with a nice lunch and was amazed! The service was excellent, the staff and (presumably) the owners were very approachable and the food was spot on! The home made extras such as the burger relish really made the meal taste that little bit better. Would, and probably will visit again!
