Fantastic home made pizza. The best I've had outside Italy. Huge! Friendly staff. Nice outdoor bit for summer. Very over priced wine- sadly.
A bit of an oasis of niceness on a long road of grimy pubs - food is great, drinks a little pricey but the atmosphere usually makes up for it. The garden at the back is lovely when the weather is nice.
I've been here three times now, twice for birthdays of friends who live in the area and once with my girlfriend for a Sunday drink. It reminds me a lot of being back at university with plenty of atmosphere and young clientele but I think this can detract from sitting and having a quiet meal. Perhaps they should split it... More
I have been to the New Cross House for food about 15 times and I have to say that the service is terrible. The barstaff are just that, barstaff, and seem to have no training whatsoever when it comes to waiting on diners. They all seem to be stoned half of the time, forgetting to put orders through or forgetting... More
We went last week whilst visiting our daughter at Goldsmiths and were once again impressed with the quality of the food. The service was very good and in this pub/restaurant you do need to be forward in ensuring good service. Prices for the food and drinks are reasonable. The staff are very friendly and very busy but do go out of... More
Having eaten here twice while staying at the New Cross Inn Hostel across the road, I found it to be a mixed bag. The first time, with several friends, we had great service - fast, thorough, and efficient - and the food was delectable. They have delicious foot-long hot dogs with various toppings and lovely hand-cut potato wedges served with... More
I actually live less than ten mins walk from this place but I had never 'gone out' in New Cross until a friend of mine introduced me to the New Cross House one Friday evening for a few drinks. The bar staff, like the customers, were trendy and young and were exceptionally friendly. The drinks prices were reasonable and service... More
With a huge wood fired pizza you can bet the pizza's are good. However the menu offers a great traditional Sunday roast at the £11/12 mark. I ordered the pork whilst my friend had the chicken. The portions were generous and the gravy was very tasty. Small gripe is that they don't provide mint sauce...very odd. The atmosphere is similar to... More
Came here as a group of 6. Throughly enjoyed all food even if it was slow. Bar staff were slow to clear and hard to get attention of. Cannot fault food - see pics!!! Great studenty quirky atmosphere
If you are around and are hungry, make sure you order a Nutella calzone. it's beyond delicious. The ambiance is also great and it's quite well located, close to the subway station and lots of buses.
