we visit here very often as no need to book just turn up open all day and they will always find you a table...or in the summer just sit out on the patio. Food is always good and very reasonably priced...have never had a bad meal here. They serve a very good sunday lunch. Service always good...very friendly and cheerful... More

Visited early evening, staff friendly and service was good. Food was nice but not that hot so it spoilt it. The waiter offered us free desserts to make up for it. 2 people had burgers and gave them 6/10 and 1 person had fish and chips and gave it 7/10.

Popped in for lunch on way to friends. Had to wait 30 minutes but was informed of that prior to ordering by the friendly staff, so no problem. I had salt beef sandwich which was delicious and would highly recommend it!

The welcoming was polite (not rude or very friendly), the decor was the style of all gastro pubs, the food (roast dinner) was not bad and it took half an hour to arrive. So, all in all, it was average.

Went on NYE as we were staying nearby. The food was excellent value, the service was excellent and we stayed on until midnight to see the New Year in. The pub was a little quiet after 10pm but you could not fault the friendliness of the staff there.

We dropped in for a light lunch on the way to a party. A warm and friendly welcome and also a nice warm restaurant with log fires in the bar and minimal but adequate Xmas decorations. The service was good and unhurried, the food well presented and of ample portions. As a Brain's pub there was a selection of real... More

We recently visited the Plas Derwen for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was inviting and the staff very attentive and helpful. There was plenty of choice both from the A la Carte menu and the specials board and although we had only arrived at 6.00 p.m. and our theatre visit was to be at 7.30 p.m.,... More

The Plas Derwen has recently been redecorated and it looks much better. It is famous as a carvery but we tried their 2 steaks and a bottle of wine offer recently and I can recommend it as great value. We had a great night and we will return

Menu is dictated by Brain's Breweries but is interpretted with little imagination. Prices generally seem inflated for what is fairly ordinary fare. Pub has large restaurant area which is very comfortable; service can be slow and inattentive. Most times that I've taken friends there the place has been pretty empty. Draw your own conclusions!
