My wife and I went here for the 7 course tasting menu. The food was absolutely delicious, the wine was superbly matched, the staff were attentive and the mood of the room was relaxed. I recommend this place to anyone even though it was more expensive to what we normally go for it was worth every penny! The tasting menu... More

The Kitchin is somewhere we had wanted to visit for quite a while as Tom Kitchin is one of our favourite chefs. We work on the principle that we have to like the person as well as the food, which is why you won't find us in a Ramsey or Burton-Race restaurant! Sadly The Kitchin was fully booked for dinner... Absolutely fabulous birthday meal. From start to finish it was so special. Meeting the chef himself was the icing on the cake. We had the tasting menu with matching wine. Everything was explained fully. Exceptional food and hostessing. Really want to book my next visit now.....

My husband surprised me with a visit to The Kitchin for my 50th birthday. It was a taste sensation from start to finish! The staff were so attentive and knowledgeable! A beautiful amuse-bouche followed by scallops and asparagus...never tasted asparagus like it. John Dory was magnificent! Dessert-Lemon Meringue...WOW..so flavoursome...didn't want it to end. Loved all the added touches with a... More

I've always wanted to try the Kitchin so the other half booked us a table. Absolutely faultless from start to finish, the staff know their food and give quality service. I had the lobster, fresh caught at Newhaven, delivered to the table by the man himself and it was simply exquisite, the best I have ever had by far. Cannot... More

We visited today for my birthday. Service was excellent and the food was everything we expected. The 3 course lunch menu was great value. Locally sourced ingredients and emphasis on using this produce was well noted. More than happy to return soon.

We met up with old friends for a birthday lunch and were a tad disappointed to find the only time they could fit us in was after 2 pm, by which time I thought the staff might be flagging. Far from it, from the moment we arrived, the young reception, bar and waiting staff were cheerful, knowledgeable and attentive. We... More

We had booked months in advance for our visit, and left planning for our next time. We visited with friends on a Saturday, and our experience was second to none. From the warm welcome, lovely nibbles in the bar, the fantastic tasting menu and petit fours to finish, we could find no fault. The service was pitched just right between... More

Visited the Kitchin on a weeknight to celebrate a birthday. We chose the tasting menu with wines to complement each course. Each course and the acompanying wine was excellent, the service was brilliant......the meal was definitely superb. The one blot on an otherwise superb evening was the all male table next to us who seemed to be on an expense... More

Visited last summer and opted for the tasting menu. Although several courses were exceptional, particularly the spoot, one dish was really a letdown - several cuts of lamb served together. The dish was samey and bland, lacking the rich and diverse tastes of the other dishes. When paying this much in Edinburgh, it is reasonable to expect perfection
