Description: Modern meets quaint at the New Malletsheugh Inn in the rather lovely countryside of Ayr Road in Newton Mearns. A regular stop among those who travel the A77/M77 corridor, the 19th century inn has been thoroughly modernized into a contemporary, family-friendly bar with glossy wood flooring and furniture, bright white walls, and countryside views on three sides. Malletsheugh Inns is not a shy menu, with 11 starters and many more mains, from salads, baked potatoes, pasta and pizza to more formal dishes such as braised lamb shank with rosemary and roasting juices, and breast of duck with black pudding mash and a red wine jus. A lounge/lunch menu is served until 5pm, and an a la carte until 9pm. Lovely, warm staff.

My wife and I chose to go here today for lunch, turned out to be a good choice. Quiet bar, good service,we chose the Tapas Menu a selection of three for £10.00. The food was excellent, six good sized portions, complimentary bread a pint and a glass of wine £26.00. Happily go back.

The day before mother's day and all the local Newton Mearns restaurants were packed! Having recently been taken over and refurbished we thought we'd give The Mall a try. When we arrived the only difference we could see was a new wall at the bar at the entrance which is apparently the new tapas bar. Unlike the other restaurants The... More

Now the Mall in Mearns. Four of us went for our dinner here on Sunday, thought as it was under new management we would give it a try. All I can say is we shouldn’t have bothered. We were shown to our table by a young waitress who managed not to smile or display any form of welcome. Although there... More

Long wait for starters and main courses to arrive. This with the dining area and bar half empty, hate to think how long a wait you would have if the place was busy. Food quality very poor and quite unappealing, dishes brought out at different times, some main courses nearly finished before the rest of the table was served. Some... More

Visited for the first time tonight with my parents as they remembered the place being good many years ago. What a massive disappointment. To start the service was poor - none of the staff seemed too bothered about their customers. We then waited almost 30 minutes for our food (we only ordered mains as had planned on dessert). After complaining,... More

We had the carvery on a Sunday. We both opted for the roast beef which was tender. It doesn't come pink but that suited me. There was also turkey and a nice looking ham. There was ample veg -one can return as often as one cares to - mashed turnip, savoy cabbage, peas and corn, carrots. Only the peas/corn mixture... More

I went to the restaurant last Friday. I ordered the soup of the day. When it arrived the soup was off. I will not be going back to the restaurant.
