Description: Hidden away in plain sight on Glasgows Renfield Street, Charcoals is easily missed by passers by but a restaurant well worth seeking out. Held in high regard by locals thanks to its great Indian food, Charcoals offers what could be some of the best curries in town. Under new management since 2011 but still providing that award winning formula that made it such a success in the first place, Charcoals maintains a clean, unpretentious interior with a cosy, comfortable and warm feel and relaxed, unhurried atmosphere helped along by friendly, efficient service. A comprehensive collection of Indian curry house favourites, Charcoals provides lovers of Asian food with almost too much choice the specialties ranging from baltis and kormas to those sundries that make an Indian meal in to a feast. Extremely affordable with set lunches and pre-theatre menus adding extra value for those in a hurry, this local favourite looks set to remain so for years to come.

We enjoyed the meal all items, having been to may indian restaurants before, the food here was well above average. The service was very attentive and informative. Complimentary baked popadoms were a treat as were the dips. Would consider a return visit next time we are in Glasgow.

Our monthly Buryani and Beer outing saw us at Charcoals for the first time since the last visit. We had heard better things of Charcoals from various sources including a well known Glasgow Curry Blogger. Five of were welcomed and after a brief wait, shown to our table. Complimentary popadoms and dips were provided and were substantial enough for us to... More

I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend because we both like Indian food. Ali, the manager was really helpful and told us about the dishes. I ordered the lamb korma for main course and they made me a special spicier version of that dish to match better to my appetizer. The food turned out to be really good and full... More

We never tire of this restaurant and I would urge anyone who enjoys proper Indian cuisine to visit and enjoy food of the highest caliber. The quality is quite simply superb, flavours fantastic and the ingredients noticeably fresh and to the highest standard. We visited Charcoals again last weekend and were once again blown away by the food, the service,... More

I've been to Charcoals quite a few times and have come away satisfied. The quality of the dishes and the way they are prepared has always been up to a high enough standard. You can imagine my shock when I returned home late a couple of nights ago with my first takeaway order. It was saturated in cooking oil. About... More

We dined here on Saturday night along with some friends, and cannot fault the food, customer care, efficiency, price and atmosphere. There is a real commitment to fresh tasty Indian cuisine, which is lacking in other Indian restaurants in Glasgow. We all had pakora for starters, soft flakey fish in a moreish batter delicious, my husband had the chicken which... More

We love this place .Second time at Charcoals did not dissapoint. Food yet again was superb, staff friendly and enthusiastic .Love the wee extra touches of the chutney and jelly. What gets me most about this place is the atmosphere. Some restaurants can feel a bit stuffy at times but this is relaxed dining at it's best with a great... More
