I always assumed when a restaurant shows the opening times i e - 12 - 2.30 pm this would mean you could go in and order before what was in this case 2.30. My friend and I arrived (after walking from the Trongate) to this restaurant with a view to having lunch. We arrived at 2.10 and were told by... More

Opium delivered on all accounts. After a week of home cooking in the Highlands we were desperate for some spice. Opium delivered. The service was excellent, the two waitresses were....just really good. There, but not there if you know what I mean? The food was sensational and the stuffed chillies to start was the kick I had been looking for.... More

To quote LordF "Not what I had expected." Staff were sweet but service was a joke, e.g. we were forgotten and received lots of apologies but would rather have had drinks with our meals. For an aperitif I asked for a Gin Martini with an olive because the menu stated a choice of lemon or olive. First I was told... More

I have been going to Opium regularly since the restaurant opened with both work colleagues and my partner. I can honestly say I have never been served a poor dish and I have tasted most things on the menu. The food is consistently excellent and you can tell the owner takes pride in what comes comes out of the kitchen.... More

Went here with my boyfriend for dinner for my birthday and the staff were so lovely bringing me a free cocktail. The food was lovely though maybe a bit more selection would be nice, what can you say though the food they do serve is great.

The food here is so good. Service is a bit haphazard but... I don't care. Did I mention the food? Their salt & pepper ribs are - as they say in the US - to die for. Their dim sum is quite exemplary. They manage to do the dreaded "fusion" with very few missteps. Chinese, Thai and Malay influences abound... More

This lovely little restaurant in Hope Street, Glasgow is a treat to visit. From small cozy tables for two, to large gatherings, this restaurant caters for everyone. There is such a lovely ambient atmosphere, not too hushed but not overly boisterous. With customers in their twenties to a couple of ladies in their seventies, it was clearly for everyone who... Many fusion restaurants don't know their Mandalay from their Bombay however Opium manages to deliver good food with a twist on the traditional. It's more Canton than Bangkok and a lot of the cloyingly thick sauces we've become used to in Glasgow take away thankfully absent. We went for monkfish claypot which was excellent as was the prawn cake. Service... More

This has to be one of the best Asian fusion restaurants I've ever sampled. Food was fantastic. Dim Sum was particularly good and one of their specialities. Trevor and his team are fab also. Can't wait to go back.
