Description: Jack Spratt in Manchester’s John Dalton Street should be at the very top of everyone’s list to try as soon as possible. That is, if you haven’t tried it already! This little gem of a restaurant is fast becoming one of the North West’s top dining spots. Jack Spratt is a relaxed café style vibe serving the finest fresh foods; it really is like something you’d find on the continent; “the days of clinical, sanitised, samey chain restaurants are coming to an end…people want something different and that’s what we offer” say Marcus Emadi. The Emadi brothers opened this venue in 2010 they have created is a wonderful, warm and friendly place with beautiful food. “We want people to come into Jack Spratt and relax. Not feel that they are being rushed to accommodate for the next customers. It is this attitude that makes us different from our local competitors.” “We are independent of any chain we only employ staff that share our ethos that the customer comes first and even though it’s important to make Jack Spratt a fun place to be.”The evening menu is great value, the average spend per person with wine being around £20 and at lunch time their £6 burgers are said to be the best in town. Their menu is fun, interactive and eclectic with sharing platters, decadent mains and their legendary Sweet Potato and Feta Burger, one of the many vegetarian friendly dishes available. When you walk in you are immediatley clear of their vision and of what they are trying to achieve. The décor is cosy, warm and quirky; there is no way you can’t be seduced by it. Serving lunch and dinner Monday to Saturday, their dishes are varied and different–whether you are lunching over antipasti and salads with friends or having a large family meal with wine and beers on an evening whilst listening to some great music, it really does cater for everyone and their relaxed attitude a breath of fresh air

We were really pleased to have found somewhere a bit different in the city center, the decorations are eclectic and the menu unusual but very tempting. It was the first time I've found a veggie dish that my boyfriend enjoyed (usually I have to resort to hidden vegetables...). Seems very reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly.

Popped in early evening on Thursday (yesterday) as it was recommended. There was an early evening menu (before 7pm) with 35% reduction. Welcome was friendly and really nice atmosphere. Staff were lovely and always had a smile on their face. Starter was tasty as hell!!! Soup - curried butternut squash - wow - hats off to the chef. Main -... More

We booked a table at Jack Sprat with high expectations following the positive reviews on trip advisor. We arrived to a very friendly welcome by the waiting staff and was shown to our table which is when things started to go drastically wrong. Our table was next to the toilet and everytime someone opened or closed the door, the wall... More

My hub and I ate at Jack Spratts on saturday evening. it was busy and had a good relaxed atmosphere. It felt positively different to all the sterile chains that are everywhere in Mcr. We had the blackened steak for the main and this was LUSH. We shared the trio of desserts and these were also really good. service fantastic... More

Popped in with a colleague and the lunch was excellent. Varied menu, fast service (unlike most places at this end of town) and fairly priced. Will certainly go again

Took an impromptu visit to Jack Spratt when visiting Manchester on Sat 18th May. Seen that the restaurant had great reviews on TripAdvisor and proceeded to book a table for the 5-6 early-bird menu. I'm glad we booked in advance, the restaurant was bustling (in a good way). We were immediately taken by the unique decor and warm environment. All... More

Visited on a Friday night with high hopes and wanted a local, independent restaurant to wow me; it didn't. In fact, with so many great places in Manchester, I won't be going back. The service was great - friendly and efficient without doubt. We got a nice table in the window and my wife's meal was excellent. Ok, so why... More

Hey there, Thanks for reviewing JS. I welcome all feedback good or bad- as it is this that helps to continually improve my restaurant. Firstly, I apologise that you have not received the high level of food that we pride ourselves on. 16oz Cote be Bouef is £14.95 on Early evening & £23 on A La Carte Menu. The alteration... More

This was our second visit to Jack Spratt's. Our first visit was excellent, this was even better. We took advantage of the early evening discount off the a La Carte menu. Our party of 6 had a variety of starters from the goats cheese tart to the spare ribs - all we superb. The main courses were Jack's handmade burgers/blackened... More

Both myself and my husband enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. We shared the continental platter and each had the burger as a main. Very generous portions, I was too full to clear my plate, which doesn't happen very often! We will be going again on our next trip to Manchester. In fact I am craving a burger right now.

Really nice atmospheric casual place to eat. Lovely food and very appealing decor (the windows look marvellous!). Staff are friendly - Worth mentioning that they were happy to accommodate our request of 'surprise mocktails' despite them not being in the menu (and they were delicious!). Only niggle was that the side portions cost extra and were quite small for the... More
