We came back last night to Solena after a while and we were more impressed than ever. We took the initiation menu at 41 Euros. First course tartare of Gambas delicious with tempura, then Iberia pig with aspargus and finally garigette strawberry with cottage cheese and ice cream. This was one of our best meal ever.

Best meal I had during a week in France. It's a bit off the beaten path, it seems, but SO worth the effort to find it. Everything I ate was knock-your-socks-off flavorful and beautifully presented. Get there before they start pulling down Michelin stars.

Best restaurant I found in Bordeaux during my one week trip to the city - and part of the trip's plan was to find good food. Impecable. Would not change anything. Small and cozy, welcoming people, and lovely food. Recommended.

We decided to try Solena because of the TA reviews. Also, we were able to make the reservation online even before we left home, which is hassle free. We noted that the proprietor, Serena, is from San Francisco so we figured that English wouldn't be a problem in our first stop in France. We were not disappointed at all. Serena... More

Wouldn't have eaten here if hotel restaurant hadn't been closed tonight - what a bit of luck! Menu is not huge, but because there are only two/three choices per course everything is superb. All fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Service was very attentive without being intrusive. Will be back next time we visit Bordeaux

We are always so please when we go to Solena. Amazing food, great service and now a new decor that looks really good. The chef has always new and original ideas and because all products are fresh the taste is always fantastic. We have been going for quite some years and we are always amazed by the experience.

Top quality food, presented well. All served in attractive, simple surroundings. I've not got much experience of this standard of cuisine, but one has to start somewhere... We ate at Solena in early December 12. The aperitif of champage with local pear juice had a lovely flavour and interesting texture from the pears. The shellfish amuse bouche came with interesting... We found Solena through it's top rating on TripAdvisor and were not disappointed. The food is lovingly and meticulously prepared - and is a bargain considering the quality. The proprietor is from San Francisco, so menu translations are not a problem here. From the complimentary pate served in ceramic spoons to the perfectly-done lamb chops arranged on a tower of... We booked a reservation via internet before we left the States based on the great reviews of Solena and were not disappointed. Serena was an excellent hostess. The food was extraordinary. We started with duck tartare and fois gras. The presentation was so lovely, we took pictures. The cod and lamb belly entrees were delicious. And the dessert - a... More

Foodies will enjoy the perfectly-executed preparations. Foie gras terrine accompanied with beet root - who would have thought? Nicely-done lamb and good pork dishes for the mains. Though both the menu and the wine list are small, what they do have certainly hits the spot, demonstrating, once again, that good things can come in [very] small packages. An interesting selection...
