A bistro in the centre of town near the cathedral Le Chardonnay is popular with locals. The menu is not extensive but the food is excellent and the staff friendly. Well worth the walk up the hill in our opinion.

Sitting outside this restaurant two days ago in the Auvergne sunshine, while Britain was lashed by rain was especially sweet. We had wandered up the hill past several other eateries, before settling on this obviously popular with the locals restaurant, and we weren't disappointed. Our special thanks go to the couple on the adjoining table who recommended the local sausage...

The restaurant is situated near the cathedral and is a long walk up the hill . The place is OK, the service is OK and the food is OK+ but I would not walk up the hill again! Clermont- Ferrand is not a friendly tourist town and its difficult to find a good place to eat,
