Well one thing about Europe is they use Darwin’s way of thinking.. You climb it and fall well that's your fault.. I love that!! We went all over this castle with little to no restriction. Is that rock stair safe? I don't know let's find out... High, High above Baden-Baden, this diamond of a castle is a must see. I... More

We visited this cafe after a long walk to the castle in very cold weather. We both needed something warming for lunch, so I chose a potato and vegetable soup and my husband chose the lamb soup (which came in a little casserole and was a huge portion for one which he of course appreciated!) Both soups were home-made and... More

We arrived on a cold, dark, snowy evening to be greeted by the manager, and shown to our amazing room (actually two bedrooms, a lounge, corridor and bathroom!), before being served dinner - excellent plate of game stew and noodles, very warming and just what was needed! It was something of a surprise to be told that we were the... More

During our recent visit to Baden Baden we decided to take a hike up to the Altes Schloss (the Old Castle) which sits on a hill overlooking the city. There is a waling path which starts right in the city and then winds through some beautiful parks and then plunges into the woods an up the steep incline to the... More

We visited this place on a drizzly day. We chose to drive due to the weather. It was a lovely drive with the fall foliage in full golden delight. The road was so pleasant ... didn't seem like a steep climb. Very narrow road so I don't recommend going up in a large vehicle. Even though our group was eight... More

We went there because of recommendation of hotel staff and also great rating on TripAdvisor. It was deffinitelly good choice. Unfortunatelly there was a wedding in restaurant, but personal was really kind and we can enjoy wonderfull food in the another room. If you like venison, this is must visit for you!

This is a quaint, simple restaurant in an old castle. Don't expect Cordon Bleu dining but the food is traditional German, and quite solidly good. I would highly recommend this place to catch a lunch or dinner. We had a late lunch there on a rainy Sunday afternoon and really enjoyed our meal. I had a slice of Schwarzwald cake... More

A thoroughly enjoyable late lunch following a gentle hike to reach the castle. Prices are average; however, the food and selection of beers are most certainly not. The only slight criticism was that we had to wait about 10 minutes for our bill to arrive, although the two very helpful staff did have to cope with a wedding party and... More

They have wild game dishes such as wild boar, venison, etc with the typical german sides like spaetzle and cranberry sauce. The caste is an awesome tourist site that is far enough away that most tourists don't make it up there. You can climb all the way up to the top where the flag is. I wouldn't recommend the vegetable... More

We said here as well as ate here and there's nothing like being in a spooky ruin after all the other visitors have gone, for feeling rather special. Food was absolutely delicious, great creamy tagiatelle, lovely wine, and lots of choice, all eaten in the castle courtyard. This place is entirely without pretension and definitely worth a visit.
