Description: Botn is the oldest restaurant in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records. Located in the heart of Madrid, at the foot of the Arco de Cuchilleros and next to the Plaza Mayor, it was founded in 1725 and was a meeting place for Madrid's bohemian and literary set. Botn offers Madrid-style hospitality in a convivial and friendly setting, with traditional decor. The restaurant prides itself on using the finest ingredients accredited by the respective quality marks in order to offer guests traditional recipes that have been passed down from father to son over the years, cooked in a natural and artisan way. Its specialities include roast suckling pig and lamb cooked in traditional Castilian style in a wood-fired oven that has been in use since 1725. Botn treats all its diners the same - whether politician, famous artist or its neighbourhood regulars.

This restaurant has been in business since 1725. It carries a lot of Madrid history. It is located just off Plaza Mayor. The specialties are the "suckling pig and roasted lamb" they are roast in the same original stone oven from 1725. A must if you visit Madrid. More

We made a reservation at Botin way in advance so we were able to eat in the cellar. The atmosphere was terrific and all the food was great. As in most Spanish restaurants we overordered. We ordered the salmon appetizer which was a huge plate of smoked salmon that was too die for. Unfortunately it was way too much for... More

We made our booking on line 2 months before we arrived in Madrid. I was a bit iffy receiving confirmation from an external booking agency but it was fine. The restaurant opens at 8 and it was totally booked out, which happens most days we are told. Being the oldest restaraunt in the world we went purely to say we... More

Oldest retaurant in the world! Mixed reviews so I wasn't sure whether I'd like it. But I had a great dinner, despite being on my own. I got there at 10 and was seated downstairs which had great atmosphere. Admittedly most people were not locals, but in a matter of minutes I was chatting to the tables around, all who... More

Seriously, don' get anything else there. Just go in and order the pig. It is pricey at about 23 euro, but OMG well worth it. I am generally pretty cheap, but had to see what it was all about and I am glad I did. Located in Segovia right under the Aqueduct. My table had a nice little picture of... More

Oldest restaurant in the world. Multiple rooms, reservations a must. Right off of Plaza Mayor. Very large portions of good food. We were stuffed. Service was first rate throughout. More

The oldest restaurant in the world is not just a tourist trap, the suckling pig and lamb fall off the bone for an epic moist goodness. It is fatty, and costly, but so so good. Get the house red wine, everybody does, and it is good. Get a side of veggies, any of them, to balance out all that meaty... More

Try to sit downstairs in the " cave" like atmosphere. Food was delicious, had the filet botin which was a good portion and the lamb. Mushroom app was great as well. Would suggest making a reservation online. More

We went there with a group of friends. Most clients were locals. Service was very quick and the food was above average although it is not cheap. We expected the suckling pig (the specialty) to be a bigger portion for this price. Good location and easy to find near Plaza Mayor. More
