Food was satisfying but service perfunctory. Had the impression that we were a bother rather than a paying guest
We had a wonderful meal for 6 friends traveling to Bologna for the first time. Oscar recommended an authentic menu and it was superb. The appetizer was a variety of different tastes: chick peas, cabbage, eggplant, mortadella, mozzarella, mini omelet with roasted tomatoes and a wheel of shaved pecorino with fig, onion or honey. Our pasta course was followed by... More
I felt in love of Bologna and this is one of the reasons why! The quality of the ingredients is... 5 stars! And you feel that you're eating the food of the nonna! Delicious!! If you are hungry! Try the buffet but be carefull there is so much you have to remember your limit before the secondi plati!
Walking through town to begin the Portico of San Luca walk (4 km under 666 arches), we passed Da Alice. The pear and gorgonzola risotto on the menu caught my eye. The thought of it was an incentive during the climb up and back down again and we were not disappointed. Even though I had dreamed of the risotto all... More
Just as they say, when in Rome do like Romans do. When in bologna do go and eat where locals do. This is cozy restaurant with local dishes. No English menu means this is not a the typical place that strive on tourists' . The food is as Italian as it gets and prices are reasonable. Friendly service, would recommend... More
The cheery couple (father and daughter?) on duty when we dined at this relatively small local eaterie seemed to prioritise the attention they gave on their local clientele. Tourists (like us) were seated in a different part of the restaurant to locals and we sensed that we were 'second class citizens'. Apart from trying to direct our attention to the... More
If you are looking for well priced, well prepared, and authentic cuisine of the region, Alice is a good bet. Our server was informative and suggested a number of choices that were outstanding. Enjoyable.
I don't intend to push too much but the food here was just good, nothing to remember as something special. We ordered pasta with ragu (bolognaise sauce), another pasta with mushrooms and sliced meat, with local white wine. It was around 20 euros/person.
Small and very local, the food here was excellent, the service equivalent, and we were made to feel very welcome in what is clearly a local eatery (not a tourist spot). Not far from the core of Bologna, perhaps 10-15min on foot from Piazza Maggiore, Da Alice delivers some great Bolognese food and wine without any hype.
