This restaurant in the middle of town was so good we went back again and the meal on our second visit was even better. And the wine was also really good and well priced as well.
My husband loved the grilled squid. End of good review. The waitress was fine but the man was so rude, throwing his hands in the air. I can totally relate to the reviewer who started to have dinner and his wife felt ill. This waiter/guy needs some lessons on relating to his customers! I brought a flyer from my hotel... More
First night in Riomaggiore - had dinner. Pesto, shrimp, anchovies. A second visit for breakfast, would have been better buying foccacia, fruit and coffee from local coop and grocery stores. Third visit a lovely dinner. Advice? Lunch, dinner, not breakfast.
Just spent 5 days in Riomaggiore, with my husband and two friends. We ate at Il Grottino probably 4 times, and everytime the food was delicious, and local house white wine cold, crisp, and delicious. I found the restaurant, and its bathroom to be clean. There is a small glassed in porch dining room that blisfully is non-smoking so I... More
My wife and I were joined by our two grown daughters for dinner at Il Grottino after a wonderful day in Cinque Terre. Frankly, we picked this restaurant because it looked the best and had an interesting menu. We were very pleased with our dining exprience. This is a really good restaurant with excellently prepared foods and attentive service, all... More
Our first night in riomaggiore we decided to wander through town and find a spot to eat; we guessed wrong. The wine was good, but everything else was a miss.
Heaven awaits those who choose the very simple fresh tender and tasty grilled Calamari and Cuttlefish at giveaway prices 14 Euro, couple that with a local white wine and you will be back twice on the same day as I did. As good as regional Italian food gets. Unpretentious, delicious.
We expected 5terre to be a tourist trap, we ate decently in another restaurant but in il Grottino we found an excellent meal at a very modest price. Fresh fish and squid, well prepared...at a certain moment we thought (it was a price per 2 persons) that the price was per person, but it wasn't the case. Our children had... More
I visited off-peak about 2.45, so the service was good and attentive as you might expect. Prices are high but normal for cinque terre. 12 euros for a chef's special pasta dish with clams, chopped tomatoes and pesto. It was good but not unmissable. The standard for Italy really. The pesto was particularly good, clearly fresh and a local speciality,... More
