Recommended by hotel, echo previous review: €10 for boring salad, pasta okay and €3 cover charge all seemed excessive for even Taormina. Will not return, better choices abound.
Recommended by our hotel. Pretty much not so great. 10 euro for mixed salad that contained lettuce, some carrots and um. I can not think of anything else. Tried 2 different pasta plates. Both were semi tasty but small portions.white house wine was 20 euro. 3 euro per person fee to dine. Overall I would not ever go back.
We are staying at the San Domenico Palace in Taormina and we arrived late yesterday so we asked Vanessa (the splendid reservations manager at SDP) to choose a nice dinner reservation for us. We did not do any research and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere and weather on the outdoor terrace (in late Oct) was splendid. The wine list had... More
We came on a recommendation. Next time we will just seek out a nice looking one or rely on trip advisor. Mrs londonad had the brae sola which was 5.5/10. Bit tough and cheese with it not up to much. I had smoked duck with honey and pecorino cheese. It was just a plate of components and duck was not... More
Restaurant overlooks duomo square so a lot of people pass there. We were a bit late for lunch and the waiter made sure we got the message that he did not appreciate that. We got a table anyway and the food we got was fresh and very tasty. Recommended for the food, but do not expect smiling staff.
Our dinner for two on Monday, Oct. 14 was very disappointing. The food was completely without taste, the staff did not seem to care about the customers, and the total price (about $125) was not inexpensive. This was our only such experience on a 10-day vacation in Sicily. Since this place is recommended in most guidebooks, I suspect that the... More
Recommended by our hotel. Great reviews on Tripadvisor so we were looking forward to a 'delicious' meal. Wrong! My husband ordered the Filet of Fish with potatoes, capers and olives. The fish portion was tiny and had a strong fish taste- not in a good way, one boiled potato cut in half, two olives and one caper this was 23... More
Went to this restaurant for a 40th birthday celebration - it had been rated well in many guides and used to be very good but our hotel owner said that the chef had changed - as a result, the tasting menu was boring but very expensive.
Very disappointing. Bread stale. Limited menu; food and wine overpriced. Waiters disinterested. Portions tiny. Bill incorrect. Worst dining experience in many moons. Many other better choices available in beautiful Taormina.
Al Duomo is situated on the first floor overlooking a piazza and opposite a charming church so the first thing to do is get a table or booking on the terrace or the table at the window inside. The menu is good on fish and is short. It's mainly simply presented fresh food in rustic Sicilian style, not large portions.... More
