Ever wonder why the Florentines you see eating around you in restaurants at dinner rarely order dessert? It's because they save their appetites and go to La Carraia afterwards! Located two bridges down from the Ponte Vecchio on the "other" side of the Arno river (Oltrarno) on the corner before the bridge, La Carraia serves gelato from lunch through midnight... More

Amazing ice cream, amazing range of flavours and amazing staff. Wish it was in London! White chocolate pistachio is a must try!

This place has BY FAR the best gelato I have ever tasted. There are so many flavors to choose from, and I have yet to try one that I didn't like. My personal favorites are Frollina al Limone and the pear/ricotta flavor. You will 100% not be disappointed if you go here. There is even a second location on Via... More

Classic gelato flavors and so much more. Very good prices and portions are huge! Try the Ricotta e Pera if they have it- you won't be disappointed. They also will top your gelato with whipped cream for an extra 30 cents. Haven't tried that yet, but it's on my list. A tip for all gelato junkies out there: never eat... More

I am not a fan of chocolate or sicky-sweet things. But, there are usually plenty of flavors at gelaterias to find something to satisfy my tastes. A friend had taken me to this place a few years ago. I remembered it being good and wanted to go back. I am sooo glad I found it again!!! I was browsing the... More

Tiny corner gelateria, by far a favourite. The staff is friendly and the gelato is some of the best we've had in Florence. Most days there's lines out the door. I personally recommend anything chocolate/Nutella flavoured including their specialty flavour but my roommates have been big fans on their fruit flavoured selection as well.

While abroad in Florence La Carraia was the best gelato we had. In the town center there are so many gelaterias it is hard to pick through all of the choices. Rest assured, La Carraia is your best bet. Although it is a little removed from the main tourist attractions (about a 10 minute walk from the Duomo) it is... More

A co-worker recommended this place and it did not disappoint -- the gelato is so tasty and light (I found too many places in Italy had gelato that tasted icy or I had a film on the roof of my mouth). I became addicted to the chocolate mousse flavor, which was light and airy just like regular mousse. And the... More

Just over the river - cross the bridge two up from the Ponte Vecchio - the choice was amazing and the ice cream really worth trying. we went after going to 'O Munaciello' for a marvellous pizza which happens to be on the same side of the river and 200 yards or so away. Try it!

Best gelato ive had and have tried many! They do all the (Italian) standard flavours as well as some really interesting and creative others such as the pear and ricotta we tried! Imagine a light creamy texture with a hint of ricotta cheesiness and little chunks of intense, almost crystallised pear through it.... Divine! We also had the fondente which... More
