Description: On Hotel Okura Amsterdam's ground floor, you will find the Okura's Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka. Teppanyaki literally means 'to grill on a hot plate', which is traditionally the oldest way of preparing food in Japan. This kind of dining is very popular in its native country, in part because the chef prepares the most delicious dishes right before the guests' eyes. Various fishes and meats, including the very exclusive Wagyu beef, are prepared a la minute with Eastern precision. The Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka's interior features a contemporary Japanese style, the design of which is based on the elements of stone, wood, water and fire. The eleven teppanyaki hot plates will seat seven to ten guests each and are perfect for both business and festive occasions. It is also possible to reserve a private room with two hot plates, offering plenty of space for a maximum of 18 guests.

We went for dinner here last year and had an amazing experience, the food was absolutely out of this world. Being able to Watch how your food is cooked and prepared just adds the whole dining experience. I just hope I find an equally good Japanese restaurant along my travels.

I can honestly say this was one up there as one of my favorite dining experiences. The idea itself is brilliant, the service superb and the food here is out of this world. Whilst it may be a little bit expensive in some peoples eyes you pay for what you get and what you get here is damn good.

If you like Wagu beef this is the place. Nice service and capable chefs. A bit pricy but to be expected when you are eating quality ingredients like duck breast, wagu steak, and goose liver. Order a nice bottle of Sake and dream that you are in Tokyo.

I had been to Sazanka in Tokyo a few years ago and had always wanted to take my family there so I was thrilled to find that there was one in Amsterdam. Its a very different dining experience from eating in a regular restaurant and I was a little concerned that my teenage children might not enjoy it but I... More

On March 16, 2013 we had a great experience at this restaurant. The service is very warm, pleasant and profesional. The lady chef prepared us a very tasty meal. The vegetarian menu is the best I ever had in a restaurant. The other menu with fish and Japanese beef was excellent. It is quite expensive ( € 135,00 per person)... More

We were staying at the Hotel Okura (amazing place) and thought we would try out some of the restaurants. The staff of the Sazanka was very polite and was able to fit us in after not getting reservations the day before. We arrived promptly at the reservation time and was sat immediately. The service overall was spectacular. You never were... More

This is the best Japanese we have had in The Netherlands. The set menu has a lot of food and we were truly stuffed by the end of the meal. We were a family of four and could probably have had two portions between the four of us and perhaps supplemented with a couple of extras. The food was beautifully... More

Food was good. Went for the signature 6 course. My girlfriend ordered the Wagu beef as a supplement of €50. Chef was excellent and was very courteous. 2 bottles of wine @ €50 each and the total was €350. Hotel is beautiful. Nice experience.

perfect food quality and excellent service. The question "are you allergic" is quite redundant, because the respective customer would know always better - and would never forget. Anyway, that question proofs that the service is interested in the customer. So, it is not a bad sign, especially not in Holland where good service can not be found like sand on... More
