Specktakel is a surprisingly and extraordinary restaurant. Special dishes like kangaroo, crocodile, parrotfish, wagyu beef is just a small part of what this restaurant has to offer. With every dish a matching wine. Or just let the host pick a nice bottle for you. Countless times I have visited this restaurant en they never failed me.

Never have I been to a restaurant this good. Very sweet/great staff. Take a lot in to consideration as far as your wishes and allergies go. And I'm only talking about the good service of this restaurant. The food at Specktakel is a true experience of gastronomic pleasure, from South African crocodile, Japanese mushroom tea, to Australian kangaroo. Every dish... More

Great service, friendly and knowledgeable. Food was interesting, carefully prepared but a little light on the flavours. House wines excellent. 3 course and 4 course specials were good value. My salmon and egg & caviar starter was good, but kangaroo steak not that flavoursome but well cooked. M had lamb carpaccio which didn't really delive on flavour but the Aussie... More

If you like to try crocodile, grasshopper, or anything else most of us don't eat in our daily lives - all beautifully served by extremely friendly and patient staff who silently know when to wait and when not to wait, and if you also want to be treated with an excellent wine tasting menu (you get a glass of wine... On the 1st November 2012 my wife, daughther and I visited this restaurant in Haarlem and had an absolutely excellent experience. The menu was varied and very interesting, for example, for my starter I had crocodile croquettes and cripsy grasshoppers, my daughter had calamari and my wife had quail egg salad. Main courses were curried lamb stew wrapped in chapti's... More

Food is expensive for what you pay for. A bit too trendy kitchen. Service took very very long. They realy have to work on this. Not worth a star as someone suggested.

Excellent food - I have eaten here several times and taken friends and family. I have never had a bad meal - the menu changes every couple of months so always worth returning. There is always something unusual on the menu like crocodile, lama or something else adventurous. Good wine too!

You're lucky to read this, because I'm doing you a big favour. I live in Haarlem and I sharing a public secret with you: this restaurant is outstanding. I'm a person that likes restaurants in general, nice food, nice atmosphere... but here I'm stunned by every single detail. The brothers that run this place are not a bunch of amateurs,... More
