We ran in from the rain and discovered a quaint little tea room. Great service and bustling atmosphere. Large bowls of hot chocolate that you 'make' yourself at the table by adding chocolate drops to your taste. Great waffles...great gift shop downstairs..great find! WARNING very steep stairs to get to the tea rooms, would not advice for anyone with mobility... More

Never had to stir in my own chocolate before so that was cool. My girlfriend had a white hot chocolate and said it was amazing.

Visited Bruges a week after Easter. Popped into the Old Chocolate House by chance, and had the tastiest hot chocolate for a long time..... together with wonderful waffles, cherries and cream. Very pleasant staff too... It was heaven!!!!!

If you go to Bruges you can't miss this amazing place. In the basement there is the chocolate shop, but in the top floor, is there that you can live a dream. Norah Jones on the background of the chocolaterie, the two rooms where you can sit and have a warm and outstanding hot chocolate were like a fairy tale.... More

We ordered a hot chocolate each, one dark, one milk, what we got was an enormous cup of hot creamy milk each, a stirrer, and a platter which included a chocolate case filled with chocolate beans to add to the milk as required. What a treat it was. It also included a chocolate each and small biscuit, all for 3.95... More

Found this little tea room quite by chance and went in because they advertised the best hot chocolate in Bruges. As we were very cold and damp it seemed just what we needed to put us right. As we were not quite ready for lunch we decided to just have a chocolate and chose the Jamaican hot chocolate which came... More

It was cold and wet in Bruges as Spring had yet to really arrive so when we saw the signs for an upstairs tea room we ran in out of the rain. The stairs are really steep and narrow and are scary when coming down - hold the had rail ! The atmosphere was terrific with so much history on... More

We stayed in Bruges 3 days and second we found this amazing place! We had the tea with some biscuits the first time and the last day we went back to have the waffles with the hot chocolate. The place is cosy and fabulous the music of Norah Jones in the background gives the perfect note to this chocolate house.... More

It has all been said before but this place is as good as others have said. Fantastic hot chocolate, lovely tea room to relax and shop downstairs to buy chocolate to take home. Stairs are very narrow. Staff helpful. Prices reasonable. Do visit if you are in Bruges.

Having been to the "Old Chocolate House" twice in the past year, I do think that some of the negative comments are a little unfair - but that's the beauty of TripAdvisor I suppose, we all have differing opinions. The tea room element is up a steep flight of stairs so may not be suitable for mobility impaired customers -... More
