I was with a group of 10 that visited this restaurant. The staff looked a little worried at the large size of the group, but quickly pulled a few tables together outside for us to sit at. The area was quiet and off the beaten path a bit, which was great. We all ordered multiple dishes, which made me worry... More

Exotic and excellent. The food was fresh and beautifully served. A refreshing change from Greek fare. A romantic nook in an alley with warm light, gorgeous blooms and friendly staff. Will be back again and again.

We have eaten here several times and each time have been left feeling thoroughly satisfied. The portions are generally-sized and very reasonably priced. There is a wide variety of dishes available, many of which are vegetarian, and they have that authentic Arabic/Anatolic taste. The staff are incredibly friendly, without crossing the professional boundaries. In high season, I would recommend booking... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant 4 years ago and liked it very much so now we are back in Greece we returned. In order not to be disappointed we made a reservation and indeed by the time we finished it was full. We started with a plate of koutsounias-stuffed corgette flowers, and a portion of smoked pork which was wonderful.... More

I love the 'Well of the Turk'. First of all I love the location and the atmosphere in the night. It is tacked away in a beautiful coblestone alley opposite a very small and out of the ordinary tiny church and surrounded by Venetian and Turkish houses- It gives people a good chance to explore and get lost in alleys... Even though it was probably the least Greek of the meals we ate on Crete, we had a fantastic meal here of mediterranean/north African food. They use quality local produce to produce lovely food - think Ottolenghi and you're spot on. We had the trio of dips to start: hummus, baba ganoush (aubergine dip) and a tzadziki-style dip) - all... The most amazing restaurant set in a little side street near the harbour. Owned by an Englishwoman who grew up in Morocco, the food has that authentic Moorish influence. Recommend you fill the table with the Mezes both hot and cold, get a carafe of the house wine and spend the evening with friends, if you have't got any friends... More

An excellent small restaurant in a good setting away from the harbour but still in the old town. Great food locally sourced and beautifully cooked with a passion. That locals ate here as well as tourists is a good sign. Good service and reasonable prices. A cut above your average taverna

My friend is part-time Chania resident, and let's just say her excitement for food cannot be overstated. So, when she talked up Well of the Turk for the entire week, I knew it would be spectacular... and it delivered (and then some)! Set in a 600-year-old building, this restaurant is dripping with genuine charm and it serves as a perfect... More
