Its a tapas place and everything was good till we got the snails. They recycle and reheat the same snails. I do understand why they get to do that bc those snails are not eatable. other then that was kind of overprice for what you get. I got to say that the waiter was nice though and the service was...

Ta Chalkina offers Greek mezes style food with a modern twist. The small pittas with minced meat and the garlic shrimps are superb and excellent value. The view across the harbour to the old fort gives this restaurant a relaxed feel and is ideal for a lazy lunch. The service is very good and there is live music some nights....

Ta Chalkina (pronounced Ta Halkina) is a reference point in the town of Chania.
We stumbled upon it by accident - or by instinct. We loved it so much that we went twice during our holiday. The quality of the food is superb, with authentic Cretan recipes, cooked using local products. The service is professional and always with a smile....

We have been there twise and on both times the place was full. They have live traditional music and a lot of young people were there having a good time. The food they serve is meze plates (tapas). It was good food fresh and tasty.

The service is friendly and quick. The plates are meze plates with lots of different tapas food. The taste is ok. The best thing about this place is that there is always a vibrant and lively buzz!!!
I really enjoyed the food. Especially the potatoe with spinach and some kind of buttermilk. Very very nice. Also enjoyed the wine. Smooth and easy to drink. And no bad headache the other morning. Drink, eat , sing... Typical Cretan situation!!!
I like the approach cretan live music, a big variety of local food and a very good location. Although service was polite and with a smile it seems to me they need to pace up. Whether seat outdside or inside, a must do in Chania
The food here was good, and somewhat different from the usual restaurant or taverna food. The prices were fair. The best part was the live music upstairs starting about 11pm each night of Cretan musicians.
