Wonderful atmosphere and excellent selection of cask ales. There's a quiet side and a one with a juke box but the distance between them means the one does not disturb the other.

Classic English pub, fine ales on tap, tasty grub to order, staff are helpful and atmosphere is cosy. A pub full of features, old collectibles and real personality. One of the oldest pubs in the lake district. Well worth a visit. Food is good but not outstanding. Recommended.
Popped in on a fleeting visit to Bowness....and ended up missing the boat back to Ambleside.....it was well worth the taxi fare though. Great atmosphere and really friendly staff and customers.
Tempted in by promise of roast beef with all the trimmings well should have carried on walking. Paid £20.00 for 2 roasts one word awful. As a born n bred yorkshireman i have had a few roast dinners in my time but never one as bad as this frozen burnt veg aunt bessies roast potatoes n yorkshire puddings n roast...

We strolled on the Hole in t'Wall by chance. Had a great pint and huge supper. Loved all the quirky bric a brac and the great pub atmosphere.
We always pop in here! It's a great traditional oldie worldie pub. Great atmosphere with lots to gaze at whilst you sip away! It's a great little place to experience even if its for a soft drink!
A wonderful pub full of character and charm, nice beer also, open fire to provide added warmth as well staff very pleasant
We called in here for a drink last year and loved the place, so when six of us went to Windermere for the day we decided to have lunch. We wouldn't go again. Plenty of good sounding choices on the menu but we were all disappointed, mainly because we suspected everything was pre-frozen then microwaved to order. And EXPENSIVE for...

We loved this historical public house which dates back to the 1600's. The low ceilings and interesting stuffed animals (not everyone's cup of tea maybe) and 'olde- worlde' artefacts make for a wonderful, cosy atmosphere and if you're lucky enough to get the spot right next to the roaring log fire, you're in pub heaven! Although we didn't eat here,...

We sort this old place out on a friends recommendation as a quaint place to have a drink. On entering the old world charm makes you feel right at home. We managed to get a table right by the roaring log fire where we happily spent a couple of hours drinking their lovely draft scrumpy and beer. We decided to...
