Have dined here many times but this time was quite disappointed.the staff were friendly & the service was excellent but the food was just not quite up to their usual standard . The Beetroot,Walnut & Blue cheese salad had nice chunky Beetroot but was fairly bland & the blue cheese lacked sharpness. The Prawns with Cassava were also nice but... More

My husband and I spent a few days in Taupo and after doing some research on best places to eat we decided to try out 'The Vine Eatery'. We were impressed by the service, food and selection of wines and for us sharing small plates is our most favourite way to eat. Our waitress Mel was very attentive and recommended... More

We were visiting Taupo from Sydney for a wedding and the receptionist at our hotel recommended the Vine Eatery. Our experience there topped off a fabulous weekend. We found the food delicious ,and the service fantastic , especially because of our waitress Cindy, who did her utmost to ensure we enjoyed ourselves. Her infectious laugh and beautiful smile left us... More

The wine bar was recommended by our motel (Chantilly's) and it did not disappoint. The food is more share than single plate, and this is what we like to do. The servings were quiet generous and presented well. One of the great things was that you can go to the other side of the wine bar and buy a bottle... More

mediterreanean shared plates which were interesting, varied from light and vegetable based to hearty. The stuffed squid dish was delicious. Homemade bread is also served free of charge which is good to appreciate the nice sauces. It really nice to have so many good quality wines available by the glass. Wines are also well priced. Definitely recommend , probably not... More

Good service and happy staff who were only to happy to help the uninformed about wine gems on the menu. Can't wait to return.

Given the reviews for this place when I sat down I was really ready to love it but was hugely underwhelmed. The service was ok but I felt distinctly forgotten about by the end, I hadn't really cottoned onto the fact you get your own glass of water if you want one in NZ so asked my waitress for one... More

At home in NZ - such a good experience that we went back for a second meal - and it was just as good. Food: small plates to share make for an entertaining evening, lots of vegetarian options, interesting flavour combinations. Wine: great choices by the glass or choose a bottle from approximately 200 off the rack. Ambiance: comfortable seating and... More

We loved this restaurant/café! It's such a great idea to incorporate a bottle shop and restaurant and offer diners the opportunity to pop across into the bottle shop and choose a bottle of wine to enjoy with their meal. We asked our waiter for help with wine selection and his pick was very enjoyable. The food was excellent and we... More

These guys have the biggest wine selection in NZ and great food to match; lamb, squid in panko crumbs, mussels in Sav, breads with goats cheese, ham and eggplant and chorizo with beans. There is a shop attached to the bar and restaurant too which means you can purchase a bottle for your table and they'll pop the cork off... More
