We bring our visitors here for a casual dinner when they are in Launceston. Great food, generous portions and attentive, friendly service.

Everytime we go here we are dissapointed but we keep trying every 6 months or so to see if they have improved but the last sunday was the last chance for this restaurant! On booking the staff member sounded like she had a hangover, when we sat down my friend ordered a orange juice with my coffee. I had finished... More

Just had a meal with a friend at Elaia, service was fantastic, very attentive staff & meals arrived promptly with a nearly full restaurant. My scotch fillet steak was lovely but quite expensive by the time you pay for sauce & all sides. My friends soup was good, but again expensive for what it was. I must say it was... More

Had two friends from out of town visiting for a couple of days and with a full first day ahead of us, I suggested taking them to breakfast at Elaia (having been here several times previously - finally reviewing!!). We got there right on opening and had the place to ourselves, although it quickly filled up which is always a... More

For the last 18 years of knowing and loving my wonderful wife, we have always gone out for a Valentine's Dinner. This time however, I was committed to a Board meeting. We chose to go out for breakfast instead. Elaia Cafe in Launceston was our ideal choice. The weather was superb and the sun always shines into the cafe seating... More

We dined at Elaia in Launceston by default, really; every other place that had been recommended to us was closed on a Monday night, a common problem in Launceston (and other areas of Tasmania, sadly). However, this turned out to be a positive experience as the meals were thoroughly enjoyable, service relaxed and friendly, and while pricey, not ridiculously so.... More

Good location, service ok but pricey menu, had deep fried squid and chips ,no salad . Would be ok for a $10 pub meal. Once bitten twice shy

We just wanted somewhere quick and casual and it was both those things. Certainly a long time since I last visited and the menu was not as extensive. However what we had was hot and tasty and they made sure we got our food before the large group who were there. One of the reasons I would go back would be... More

Beautiful setting, well laid out ina beaut Staff were adaptable and helpful. Menu has good variety but is very pricey - even for quite simple items. Overall good experience

Had breakfast here a few times and normally ok but this time my wife's Canadian pancakes were cold and gritty with undercooked and fatty bacon, she didn't eat them.My eggs Benedict were ok($23 as I asked for tomato with it) but for the money you expect great. We wont be in a hurry to eat there again but would go and have...
