My wife, 3 yr old son and I decided to try Donovan's for lunch more on a whim than by planning. And, we were blown away. The food was superb. For starters, we had their baked oysters and fresh oysters, both of which were really fresh. We also ordered their starter sampler which was fantastic though it was a bit... More

We had lunch at Donovan's on a warm sunny day and enjoyed the view of the sparkling waters of the Bay and people enjoying the autumn sunshine. The food was delicious I think one could say outstanding. We had a shared starter plate, then the BBQ Queensland leader prawns with roasted potatoes and salad, and my partner the pasta and... More

Read previous reviews and thought we shoud try it for ourselves. Food was delicious and plenty not some small bit of something. Service was fantastic and our waiter Lianh was an absolute delight. She new her stuff from food to wine. She was great. Guy at door was a bit of a toss. It was a lovely evening and whilst... More

we took the#16 tram to St. Kilda's to try this restaurant for a leisurely lunch. It was highly touted in our guidebook as a place for a "special occasion." We were concerned that it would turn out to be overpriced and stuffy, but were pleasantly surprised to find the contrary, notwithstanding that the decor and view would entitle them to a... More

This is a friendly restaurant , with a great location and good food , where the staff will go the extra mile to make your day special ( we had a birthday celebration). The whole side of the restaurant faces the ocean , so getting a reserved window seat is strongly advised, especially during the day. Reservations in this popular... More

We took the tram out to St. Kilda's for our anniversary dinner. Donovan's is located right on the beach in an old bath house. It has a beach cottage ambiance with killer sunset views. Due to the brightness of the setting sun, they actually had to draw the blinds. Our server was patient and helpful. She even offered to debone... More

Donovan's manages to be upmarket, fine dining while being warm and friendly at the same time. Try to get a table by the window in the summer and a table closer to the fireplace in the winter. The wine list is expensive but you can always find an interesting choice and whilst the menu hasn't varied too much over the... More

Good restaurant on the waterfront, and with lovely views (get a window table if you can, but virtually all the tables have a view). The menu is not huge, but is varied. My squid was lovely, and the anchovy with it set the flavour off really well. My wife's soup was first class too. Our mains (fillet steak and duck)... More

We went there as part of a large group after The Melbourne Cup and I must say they handled our group with ease. Great service in this wonderful location was followed by great food. The seafood dishes were especially good. I love the eclectic way this place is set up. We relaxed in lovely big sofas with interesting books and... More
