Service was fabulous and friendly with amazing views and the freshest crayfish ever! We will be back. We brought a bottle of wine and had crayfish while the kids hunted for shells on the beach.

Our hotel recommended this, most of our friends did too, and we found it on Trip Advisor. A small caravan on the side of the road, you choose your crayfish, tell him how you want it cooked and eat it at picnic tables outside looking out to the sea. Heaven!
Nin's Bin is a landmark location on the drive from Christchurch to Blenheim/Picton and should not be missed. The simple caravan construction, unchanged since inception, sits on beach pebbles on the ocean side (east side) of State Highway 1 about 30kms north of Kaikoura. There's ample parking and a number of outdoor wooden picnic benches and tables on which to...

The only place on the coast where the owners own the right to catch & catch they do. They don't sell to restaurants in Kaikoura or exporters. For NZS40-60, you'll get a cray that easily serves 2 or 3 (at a Kaikoura cafe you'd pay that much or more per person & it would be 1-2days old). The Nins folks...

Some colleagues told us this was a cheaper way to try some of the popular crayfish, but to be honest I could not and can still not see what is so special about them. Sure they tasted good but a couple hundred grams of crayfish is NOT worth $90, and for $90 you only get the crayfish, sides are not...

At about half the cost of a restaurant crayfish, Nin's is good value, but comes with no sides or extras apart from little pots of sauce. Served on a cheap plate with two forks, it needs some dexterity to eat. Happily there is running water to clean up afterwards.
thought it was really affordable after looking at other restaurants. we arrived early so we just wandered around the beach and we seen the boat go past. about an hour later the shop opened and the fisherman walked over with the freshly cooked crays. it doesnt get any more fresh than that!!!!! was amazing, definatly a must do when in...

North of Kaikoura on an amazing stretch of beach there is an old trailer outfitted to serve you the most delicious lobster - called crayfish in New Zealand. They say the going rate is $80-110 per kilo and they aren't giving you a deal just because you stopped by. But oh my, it is delicious. Pay the extra to have...

Love Nin's Bin, having been there several times while touring our show in schools around New Zealand. The location by the water is gorgeous, the simple caravan and the way they have incorporated it into the landscape, magical. The food is DELICIOUS, with the ocean just a few feet away from clean white benches and tables.
I haven't tried the...

....try it. It was our fist time having Crayfish and based on the cost of it, we wont be eating it often but when in Kaikoura, eat crayfish. Unfortunately we got there when it was pretty cold and wet but we were determined to try it all the same. The views are still fantastic.
The food is delicious, just not...
