Description: Italian –French-Hungarian Bistro cuisineTradition & Evolution Our Executive Chef, Levente Kovacs thinks this way about our cuisine:“The youthful and modern bistro cuisine is my world, it can renew day by day, it combines the gastronomic ‘lifestyle’ of different places in the world, even on one plate, in a way that, I don't use hundreds of spices with each other, but I’m trying to create exciting contrasts. I do a kind of kitchen minimal-design because simple can be great also. It causes difficulties sometimes for me to not to put all my ideas into one dish. I’m trying to use the raw materials as they were given to me by nature itself, changing only as much as I need. And then we get to a point, where simple is not so simple anymore. Ease and great tasting harmony in life, in the kitchen and on the plate.Simple is hard. Enjoy!”What else can we say? The Chess Restaurant is an intimate place in black and white, absolutely a place to get together frequently, where You can try new dishes day by day with it’s always renewing kitchen creativity, served simply and clearly. The Chess Restaurant opened, it’s Your move now!

Not busy despite the great reviews. Food was really good. Cocktails were great. Service from the young girl and guy was spot on. Lastly very good value for money and would recommend to anyone visiting Budapest.

You must try the tenderloin with the potato and cocoa bean doughnuts and the sea bass. YUM. The chocolate dessert is divine. The chef is personable and extremely talented. Can compete with our very best in Chicago.

Chose this restaurant as close to our hotel but blown away by the quality of the meal. It wasn't just good, it was an order of magnitude better than the other places we ate at. Really fine cuisine without being pretentious. Defied my rule never to eat at the same place twice, and would have eaten there a third time... More

We returned from staying at this hotel yesterday and sadly only made it to this restaurant on our last evening for a much needed emergency pudding and were not disappointed. We had a chocolate pud that was as light as a feather, everything about it was fantastic. Really excellent and would go back in a flash.

Small, quiet, with a delightful waiter and great food. We had an early dinner of chicken stuffed with asparagus and beef tips. Generous portions, competitively priced, well prepared and very tasty. Definitely a place to enjoy and recommend.

It is difficult to believe that there are better restaurants in Budapest than Chess. It has everything except for a stunning view. The food, service, atmosphere and wine were all of the highest quality. On our first visit, Friday evening, we enjoyed a Kir Royal like aperitif and an Amuse Buche consisting of a pork pate served in a spoon... More

I absolutely adored this place, so did my friend who came with me. I had seen this restaurant several times as I frequently walk on Dob utca, and always thought of going there. I'm so glad I chose a timing when a good friend of mine was visiting, because the place was impeccable. The service alone deserves five stars -... More

The athmosphere was warm, the service was great and the food reminded me why good chefs deserve to be handsomely paid. A very very pleasant experience overall. I will definately come back!

On our first night in Budapest we ate here. What a gem. Small and intimate. The ambiance and decor is superb. Attention is given to the finest detail. The waiters are neatly dressed in uniform and well trained and informed on wines and the food on offer. Try the goulash soup and the potato soup as starters. Be mindful that... More

This is a place, that gave attention to detail. From the moment you sat down you felt that you were an important guest. The level of service was equal to any I have experienced in Budapest and better. The lady in charge and her staff took pride in being able to serve and provide not only a great meal, but... More
