Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. A bipartisan favorite, we have occupied the nation’s capital since 1995, anchored across from the Verizon Center and around the corner from the International Spy Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Chinatown. Make waves at our racetrack-shaped bar or sup on seafood underneath the hull-like ceiling in our restaurant’s main dining room. Either way, be presidential and order a cup of our New England Clam Chowder; it’s been served at every Inauguration since 1981. Other accolades include “Best Place for Great Seafood” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008) and “Best Crab Cakes” (Washingtonian Magazine, 2008)

Great food and location. Service was exceptional. Great place for a delightful dinner of superb seafood and drinks. It's just around the corner from the National Arts Portrait Gallery.

What a great place to relax over cocktails or dinner. Great ambience. Food is incredible! I had the best lobster of my life! And I only had the mid-sized! The claws were as large as the tail!!! And scallops totally delicious!!!!

We had an outstanding waiter, Ian, who made wonderful recommendations for our dinner, and provided impeccable service. The crab cake appetizer and crab soup were outstanding and the halibut and scallop special was exceptional. Overall, our evening meal and interaction with Ian was one of the highlights of our time in DC.

Took my folks, in their 80's, to lunch on a Monday. Service was very attentive, food was in larger than expected portions, and cooked to perfection. Having been to Legal Sea Foods in MA, my expectations were high. We were not disappointed! Would recommend. Great location, just around the corner from the National Portrait Gallery.

We had lunch here before Washington Caps hockey game. The prices, ambience, and service built hopes for some good seafood. Too bad the service was so superior to the food. I have yet to be impressed at any Legal Seafood, but this location was a real disappointment. At leastthe Csps won!

I often eat at various Legal Seafood restaurants in Massachusetts, where the home base for the small Legal Seafood chain of restaurants is located. Yesterday, while in D.C., I decided to try the D.C. Legal Seafood restaurant. There is only one Legal Seafood restaurant in D.C. located on 7th Street, NW. The restaurant is fairly large and is located within... More

Reminds you of a luxury cruise ship -- in a good way -- no campy boat and anchor stuff. We ordered a flight of white wines that were all delicious to have with our fish and shared a bowl of the clam chowder to start. My boyfriend doesn't really like seafood but he loved the chowder and wanted to buy... More

If this had been our first ever visit to a Legal Seaood restaurant, we would have been very pleased - but we were introduced on a business trip to Legal Seafood in Boston, we have been back many times and thus the Boston outfit(s) have set a standard - and the Washington branch is not anywhere near that standard. The... More

We decided to eat here because we thought it would be kid friendly. It was. All the staff was very nice and polite. Our waitress was kind. We found the food to be pretty bland though. There were three options for lobster size: 1.25 - 1.5o lb 33.95 1.50 - 1.75 lb 39.95 2.00 - 2.50 lb 54.95 We chose... More
