Huong Lai is situated close to the cathedral and main post office in Ho Chi Minh City. It specializes in Vietnamese cuisine. The dishes are very high standard and the best testimony to the quality is that the clientele is mostly Vietnamese. The service is excellent. The restaurant takes young adults from very disadvantaged backgrounds (orphans, homeless kids) and trains... More

If you are looking for Vietnamese food, but want to escape from street noise, and be in a cool ( air conditioned ) environment, this is the place to go. The food isn't exceptional, but it's clearly prepared on demand and is very tasty. Drink prices are reasonable (30000 VND for Larue Biere, I know that if you bought at... More

This restaurant is excellent with friendly staff and good food. It was lovely cool and quiet and we went after reading the Lonely Planet and recommend it highly.

They got good service here. But the food was very tasteless. If you like food with lots flavor then this aint the place to visit. The price was very high. For the same amount we paid you could get 2 dinners at other places.

As previously noted this restaurant is staffed almost entirely by orphans whom the owner mentors for a career in the food and beverage industry. The service is great and the food is outstanding. Ho Chi Minh is a city that has almost universally good food so the fact that this restaurant appears near the top of the list is really... More

This restaurant helps orphans and street children by training them in the restaurant business so that they can go on to gain employment elsewhere and so care for themselves. Good food, reasonable prices and pleasant surroundings

Good food, small servings. Can't say I would come again. Possibly good for couples but I think you could do better in the area.

This is a small restaurant but fantastic food. Tucked away on a back street in District 1 it is well worth finding. Steep steps upstairs but a welcome awaits. Great service, piping hot food and very good value. A pork dish, chicken dish, vegetable dish + rice and an excellent bottle of red wine and water for under £20.
