a lot of hype about this opening due to the spectacular location and the rep of the chef. one problem for this diner was that when I went on a saturday evening the man whose name is part of the restaurant's signage was nowhere to be seen, which seemed bizarre, particularly given the price (588 for six courses). service ok... Classy, minimal ambience with attention to detail. The food was exquisitely presented and delicious, although portions were small. The service was excellent, and the quirky artworks exhibited added to the unique experience. The wine list was very good offering a broad but expensive options. Although this restaurant was very pricey, I felt that it delivered on its excellent reputation.

The Courtyard came highly recommended by a colleague at work given its well-deserved reputation, great location and incredible ambience. The Courtyard turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip while on holiday in China with my wife. The food was absolutely fantastic and their wine selection above par. Great food, great wine and gratet views of the... More

The good reputation of this restaurant is not warranted and/or outdated. The appetizers and entrees were OK for a gourmet restaurant, but it is seriously overrated in various reviews. The food, wine and cocktail portions were small and very expensive. Dessert was a disaster. The “chocolate-glazed peanuts” were slices of a Snickers bar. The “sesame muesli” was a crumbled cracker.... More

If I'd found this restaurant in Paris, I would have said the food is okay, the prices good, and the service great. Finding it in Beijing, I say that the food is good (European), the prices very high, and the service (still) great. It's an odd restaurant in Beijing--very quiet, very staid, fairly pricey. But if you're looking to find... More

The service is not very porfessional and the food actually bland and tasteless whilst prices are high. The only good thing is that the view of trhe forbidden city is good if you ahve a window table other than that give it a miss

You can't really complain about the view. There are not many restaurants in the world with a view of the forbidden city (although you must make sure that you get one of the few window tables and I think most of them are for two people). As you can see from photo 1 it was dark this time. I would... More

I read many reviews before go there. Many guides write that is one of the best resaurants in Beijing. The food is ok, prices are too expensive for what they offer. Plates are big and you have to look for food with microscope. The restaurat boast of wine list. We ordered Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile. It was like vinegar. Staff... More

you enter through the historic doorway of a Quing dynasty mansion and are in an ultra modern white on white restaurant with Chinese modern art on the wall, through the window you see the dark east wall and moat of the forbidden City. Very stylish and clever juxtaposition. We reserved two days ahead and got a window table, not sure... More

Vastly over priced and hit and miss when it comes to the food. We went there for the views but were disappointed to see that only two tables are by the windows. The restaurant was two third empty which shows that people have realised that it is a place to avoid.
